Adam Levine "Not Really Interested" In Simon Cowell's Proposed Sing-Off!

| Filed under: Music MinuteCelebrity FeudsAmerican IdolSimon CowellX FactorThe VoiceReality TV

We guess he's taking the high-road approach - or sort of, at least!

Adam Levine has responded to Simon Cowell's suggestion that there should be a sing-off between the respective winners of The Voice, X Factor, and American Idol - by implying that worrying too much about the competition deters from the quality of your own show!

He explains:

“Simon’s just so clever. He’s so hell bent on competing with other shows. We’re not really interested in a way… That’s kind of a cool idea, actually, but I’m not so sure we’re totally interested in what everyone else is doing. We’re just kind of worrying about what we do ‘cause we all know the more we worry about everybody else, the more the quality of what you’re doing tends to suffer. So, we want to just do what we do.”

Well, there you have it!

A very respectable and thought-out answers - with some thinly-veiled burns thrown in for good measure!

Wonder what Simon is going to have to say in response to that! You know he wants the win here!

I like the voice a lot more than american idol. All of the wingers are GOOD. Hardly no one on idol has any talent anymore and it just tries to humiliate these young people and once that is out there there's no hope for them. HATE the segments making fun of people

This just goes to show why Simon is an idiot for thinking he–a trained businessman–actually has any valid input regarding the world of music. Unfortunately, musicians and "businesspeople" must become uncomfortable bedfellows in a world where marketing means the difference between career life and death. That being said, Simon is still a musical idiot. Music is not about having "sing-offs." The Voice seems to be the reality singing show that comes the closest to showing what it's like to study singing in music school, but the "battle rounds" still support the wrong way of thinking about music. (Duet performances aren't about showing the other person up, but knowing how to properly perform with another person.) Still…Simon is an idiot. It would be so obvious to America how unqualified Simon is to judge musical talent if he were replaced by a Juilliard/other major music school voice professor. I'm not sure it would be easy to find one who would be willing to sacrifice their artistic integrity to take part in such a show, though….

Simon is in panic mode because he is driving down the road and now sees the gates to has-been land. He is aproaching it, his ego has been beaten to a pulp, he is aging and he can't take that his shows aren't doing well.
