Ugh! National Enquirer Publisher Calls Whitney Houston's Open Casket Photo "Beautiful!!!"

How many lines are being crossed here??

We already thought it was so morbid to put the photo of Whitney Houston's corpse on the front cover of National Enquirer.

But now we just think it's plain tacky for the publisher to call it "beautiful!"

Yep, Mary Beth Wright actually said:

"I thought it was beautiful."

Huh?? What??

We can't… we just can't

What do U think??? Take our poll HERE!!

It is the Enquirer, what do you expect??? Yes, putting a picture of her dead body on the cover is tacky, but it was an open casket funeral, as many are, and the event was streamed on-line. You might be over-reacting just a bit.

I don't get what tis big deal is, I'm sure years ago when a superstar died a picture like this would be on the covers of newpapers and magazines.

If you don't like it, don't buy it, simples.

I think you even posting about it makes you just as sick as they are. Leave it alone. It's just as disrespectful to post about it as it is for them to publish it. You just don't get that. BTW, I saw you on Dr. Drew defending BROWN. You made an ass of yourself.

I think she looked nice, sad photo though.

Hahaha, National Enquirer, one of the original trolls.

Perez can you really throw stones? I am with Rosebud. Some would probably say keeping her daughter out of it probably would have been the coolest thing. I thought the funeral was closed so someone sold the pic right?

What is completely morbid is America's vision on death. And even more so, giving it so much attention and horrible opinions about it makes it just as bad as they are. You like so many others think of death as a grotesque thing when in fact, death is beautiful. And even more so, giving it so much attention and horrible opinions about it makes it just as bad as they are. The picture itself was taken in poor taste because it is being exploited in this ridiculous tabloid news cover. Whoever took it should have respected the families wishes. But the picture itself is beautiful. She looks at peace and is beautiful even in death. There is nothing to be feared of a body. It's just a shell that contains a persons' soul. And FYI most funerals are open caskets. Please do the world a favor and get over it.

I saw the picture. And while tacky, National Enquirer style, she did look good. They did a very good job on her. I hope we all get a good mortician when we die.

Re: rosebud99 – You're wrong - it was a closed casket funeral and the photo was taken without the family's permission. My mother passed away a few weeks ago; I can only imagine how much it would hurt to have your loved one's privacy violated in that manner, especially if it were done for financial gain. Celebrities deserve dignity after death, just like the rest of us.

Re: suez2 – I hope they take some of that outrage and put it into Whitney's daughter. It seems she has been an addict for many years.

  14. 14

Well, you did post pictures when Michael Jackson died. I figured you turned a new leaf and didn't find it appropriate to post the Whitney Houston photos. But on the same day, you posted the video of that 14 year old girl inhailing helium. That killed her. It may not have shown her death, but you didn't think it was a problem showing how it happened. And that girl was only 14. I'm sure her parents are sad enough and you are posting that shit. So is it only crossing a line with Whitney because she was famous and you liked her?

  15. 15

Re: suez2 – Sorry, I had heard it was an open casket. If the funeral was not open casket, was there an earlier viewing?

  16. 16

i just think it's awful for her family. they don't need this on top of everything else, right?

  17. 17

i saw it, and i actually thought it was a beautiful picture. she looked very peaceful.

  18. 18

I agree it's a very sad photo but it's not SUCH a huge deal, she looked beautiful in the casket now if she had died in a car crash and was mangled then I would not want to see that! She looks like she was in peaceful sleep.

  19. 19

best that crazy ol' fool's looked in years !!

  20. 20

well, i saw the picture and she's actually beautiful in her casket! i was amazed on the great job preserving her body! beautifully done indeed!

  21. 21

For some reason, most of the services I have been to are for people that got cremated including my family. I did go to one service for a fellow coworker who died very young, his family was from out of state and had an open casket. I am sorry, but I thought it was gruesome to see Roy looking so fake like that, could not bring myself to get close to the casket.

    Re: samig21 – Well said.

i saw the picture and did think she looked really good. It was way more tasteful than the photos of Michael Jackson's body. I can understand why the family would be upset that someone sold that picture, but the picture itself isn't morbid or jarring. She looks at peace. Finally.

  24. 24

I want to be cremated when I die.

  25. 25

Apparently NOBODY remembers the tradition of "casket photos". IN the 1800's and as far as the 1940's it was COMMON for families to have group photos taken with the deceased around the casket. I found photos of a long dead cousin of mine who died in a car accident when she was 6 with the family standing around her casket when I inherited my grandparent's photo box. Granted, these were not published on the front of a newspaper. But the point is - casket photos are nothing new. The insensitive thing is it was done for the almighty $.

  26. 26

What is the big deal? Why is everybody so upset by this? Nobody made it a big deal when the photo of James Brown in his casket was released or the picture of Michael Jackson laying in the morgue with just a sheet over his genitals was released. What is the big deal about the picture of Whitney? I saw and I saw nothing wrong with it. Everyone needs to get over it already!

  27. 27

They've posted other casket pics before, what's the big woop? Yes it's tacky but what does one expect from the Enquirer anyway, tact and decorum?
