Ratings Explosion! Big Bang Theory Tops American Idol In The Ratings!
Oh how the mighty have fallen! Love live the nerds!
Last night, the big win on TV was NOT the top 24 picked for American Idol, but the the gaggle of geeks over on CBS' The Big Bang Theory . Chuck Lorre's boys managed to best Idol in not only the head-to-head numbers, but won the night overall!
Big Bang drew 16.1 million total viewers and a 5.2 demo rating, while Idol did 14 mil/4.0 in the shared half-hour and 15.4 mil/4.4 across the full 60 minutes.
Thus, Sheldon and Co. told J.Lo to head back to the block as BB was Thursday’s most-watched and highest-rated program.

Has Idol officially started losing its mojo? Are we finally heading into an end of an era? Or was there something really extra special going on last night on Big Bang that we're not aware of?

Love Big Bang Theory. I watch Idol too, but only on PVR so I can skip the chit chat. It usually takes me less than 15 minutes to watch an hour of Idol. I hate that 'keep you in suspense' stuff. And if it is a song I don't like, I can skip it.
I love the big bang. everyone on it is great but I really love "Amy" she plays that role so deadpan it is hillarious. Idol is good when it is just the contestants trying out or actually competing for votes. Everything in between is boring.

The Big Bang Theory is the best-written show on TV right now. I never miss it. Of course it's intelligent humour so dumber people don't watch it. LOL!

Do we really blame people for watching Big Bang if S. Tyler is taking his clothes off on Idol? I'm a huge Big Bang fan anyway. It keeps getting better every season.
Is it really a surprise? I've still never seen even one minute of American Idol unless you can't accidentally seeing a commercial for it. I refuse to poison my eyes.
