sophia bush gay marriage quote

"When we're talking about the '60s, when my best friend couldn't drink out of the same water fountain as I can because his skin is a different color than me…

Now, you're talking about a different best friend of mine who can't get married even though I could get married seven times in my life and he can't do that because he is a different sexual orientation than me?! That's absolutely a civil rights issue."

  2. 2

    Preach! Clever girl.

  3. 3

    Dumb, stupid bitch.

You can't compare a person who is born with black skin and is discriminated upon versus people who were abused as children and DECIDED to like the same sex.

It has been proved that abused children always act out.
Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen were both raped as children. It makes complete sense that they are both gay…….

  4. 4

Probably smarter than the rest of her family combined. This is the only Bush who should ever be allowed near public office.

Re: triple M – OMFG… I hope you joking right?!? You are the dumbest per on ever to think like that!! There is 600 millions homosexuals on earth and you think that all of them have DECIDED to be like that or have been raped?!? Ok you are seriously retarded.. People are BORN like that.. even when there were kids they were gays!! And WTF ”it has been proved that abused children always act out” ok seriously i don't know why a responded to you you are certainly mentally retarded it's impossible.. fuck grow up fucking bitch

Re: triple M – Let me assure you that I grew up in a safe, happy, and supportive home. I am gay simply because of the way I was born. I don't 'decide' who I am attracted to any more than you do. If you feel like your sexuality is as flexible as who you 'decide' to be attracted to, then that's your issue and not mine.

  7. 7

She's turning out to be one of the smartest celebrities around. She's right and everybody knows it, even if they want to close their eyes or twist the truth.

  8. 8

    Good point!

Re: triple M – I HAD BRILLIANT CHILDHOOD, MY PARENTS LOVED ME, WE WERE RICH & HAPPY, BUT I'M GAY……. PEOPLE DO NOT BECOME GAY, THEY ARE BORN GAY…

Re: Moniker – ummm no..sophia bush..actress.. unrelated to who you are talking about…not politicians daughter lol

  11. 11

Re: craig123 – never said all of them. I personally have had several gay friends who were abused as children and they have agreed that it probably has something to do with it.

prove to me they are born that way…….like I said before….Rosie and Ellen were both raped as children and they are gay now…….makes sense…you didn't seem to address that issue at all……telling me to "fucking grow up"……what are you 12?

  12. 12

Re: joethehobo – talk to someone who was abused as a child and is now gay…..makes a difference…….only 10% of gay people have a genetic defect….the rest need therapy from their child abuse issues….that has been proven.

  13. 13

Re: craig123 – you seem to get really defensive…..I will bet if you are gay that you had some abuse as a child and don't want to deal with it.

  14. 14

Re: Mr. Xpose – and Rosie and Ellen were both raped as children and now are lesbians………like that didn't have an effect on them not ever wanting to be with a man again………..not everyone is born gay……maybe 10% have genetic defects, but the rest were abused without therapy…….

  15. 15

we have a economic crisis and on the brink of war, but yes celebrities, lets talk about gay rights.

Re: triple M – I'm very, very interested in where you're getting these statistics. Would you enlighten me?

I'm not even going to spend the time telling you why your Rosie/Ellen argument doesn't hold up. The claim that since two gay people share one detail in their lives means 90% of other gay people share it, too, is laughable.
And by the way, if you are implying that humans have the ability to choose who they are attracted to, wouldn't that mean that you have the ability to experience homosexual feelings yourself? If you're straight, your answer is probably no, and if it's not, then I think you need to work out your own sexuality instead of harping on mine. Has it never occurred to you that my sexuality is just as concrete as yours is?

And don't try to see this as a distraction. I'd still like to see where you're getting these statistics. Just so you know, "right out of my ass" is not an acceptable answer. The last time I asked you for proof on another thread you seemed to have disappeared from the thread, despite commenting on it almost routinely beforehand. You can't just claim that 90% of gay people are faking it and expect no one to call you out on it. I'm waiting.

Re: MEMEME4 – Thank you for bringing up this point! The wonderful thing about gay rights is that there are no negatives to passing gay legislation. It doesn't cost the country billions of dollars to fix, it require great minds to figure out a solution, it's not bad for the environment, and it doesn't result in violence, unlike other legislature in this country that is under discussion. In fact, gay marriage would be GOOD for the economy.

I think you'd feel very differently about civil rights in this country if it was YOUR rights that were being denied.

  18. 18

Re: triple M – I also want to know how your argument about molestation leading to homosexuality holds up. You claim that women become gay out of disgust for being molested by a man. Um, what about the millions of homosexual men in this country? They are molested by a man when they were young so they turn to…. men?

I mean, is this really the way your mind works?

Re: joethehoboRe: craig123Re: Mr. Xpose – hey fellows you're trying to have a rational communication, with a completely irrational human being, not going to work. guys head is screwed down tight and locked into place. triple m is pretty much a waste of skin and time.

  20. 20

Re: raypearson – For once, I agree with you, Ray.

Still no sign of triple M. Did I not say this would happen? The second you try to have a rational argument: poof! They're nowhere to be seen.

  21. 21

I have never understood the negativity directed towards gays. You’ve got people that like dogs, you’ve got people that like cats. You’ve got people that like blondes, you’ve got people that like brunettes. You’ve got people that like the opposite sex and you’ve got people that like the same sex. So what? It’s as silly as being angry at people for being attracted to left-handers or models. The underlying issue is that we’re all people and deserve to be treated kindly and with respect. To those saying it’s a choice, think about this . . . why on earth would anyone choose a path surrounded by such negativity and hatred? If it was a choice, wouldn’t people chose the easier, less confrontational path? This one idiot keeps referencing Ellen Degeneres. Well, as a heterosexual woman, I would be honored to be compared to her! She is an amazing woman! It just doesn’t matter what your preference is! It matters how you treat others! Period.

  22. Laura says – reply to this

    22

but your gay best friend could still drink out of the same fountain as you in the 60s. not the same thing. gay marriage is an issue but lets not forget racism, sexism, human trafficking, expanding refugee population in camps, poverty.

  23. 23

Re: Laura – No one is arguing that homophobia is worse than racism, but the fact that one is still acceptable in this country's legislation should embarrass you. It IS a problem.

  24. 24

Re: joethehobo – lol one? try both…you do know some of the laws and rules they still have down south right?

  25. 25

Re: triple M – YOUR INFO IS TOTALLY FAKE….
NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHO TO HAVE SEX WITH (MALE/FEMALE). NO ONE CAN HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON YOUR BODY'S CHOICE … THAT'S YOUR NATURE
