justin bieber legal drama round two

Justin's legal drama continues!

To recap - last week, Justin Bieber sent a cease and desist letter to video game makers RC3 - the company responsible for an iTunes app/game called Joustin' Beaver.

At the time, we were hearing that Justin did NOT want the game using his likeness, and his lawyers were threatening to take RC3 to court!

NOW, we've learned that the Joustin' Beaver creators are filing a lawsuit against The Biebs, claiming that they're NOT violating any laws by making fun of him in their game!

The company is saying that their game is a "parody," which should be protected by the First Amendment in the Constitution.

Should be interesting to see how this all plays out! We'd expect to hear more soon!

Team Bieber…or Team Beaver???

they don't have a leg to stand on

He is part of pop culture - I agree - he is fair game. Besides, Beiber should be flattered - that beaver looks way more masculine than Beiber does.

  3. 3

bullying a teen? and profiting by exploitation.. shameful

  4. 4

Team Beaver, of course (but I have fur in the game)

  5. 5

it's parody which is protected under copyright law in the US. Bieber's lack of a sense of humour is gonna cost him

  6. 6

In a couple of years he will be begging someone to parody him.

  7. 7

bieber doesn't have a case - it's satire. the game company will most likely win or it will be settled out of court.

Absolutely Team Bieber… honestly I don't like the kid, but if they are using his likeness he should be making money off of it, or at the very least signed off on the approval. Just because he is famous does not make him fair game for other people to make money off of him. They are so going to lose!

ok A. he should be flattered honestly… this is the world we live in today.. this is HIS world as a matter of fact… video games and computers are the only things kids know these days… and to be connected to such a widely worshiped realm is COOL… ok so they tease his name and that hair of his… maybe he should take a hint and seek hair therapy! B. Hes a star… fine but he hasnt been around THAT long… in my opinion he needs to tone it down… take a seat and have a slice of humble pie… its not like theyre making fun of his career or his personal life… no real jabs are being taken… relax biebs… team beaver! :)

There's plain parody, and then there's using an obvious (parodied) image to sell your permanent product. It's not like it's a little parody video. It's iffy. Team Beiber, eh.

Joustin Beaver? Of course its parody.

Suck it up and be happy that the beaver isn't a lesbian.

Gotta love the ol' US of A.
