A true daydream believer has passed on.

This morning, Davy Jones, beloved lead singer of The Monkees and 60s teen icon, died of a heart attack in Florida. According to his rep, who confirmed the news, the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida received a call from Martin Memorial Hospital informing them that the 66-year-old performer had died early this morning.

Gone too soon. He was a sweet man.

Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans who will surely miss him.

Re: FatAzzPooHeadDoodle – And you're a sad moron.

Re: FatAzzPooHeadDoodle – One day you'll be sitting here and Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift or someone else you grew up with and loved as a youngster and whose reunion tours you went to see forty years later, will have passed on and you will feel then how some of us feel now. I hope your disrespect was meant as a joke, otherwise it was a hurtful, mean and inappropriate thing to say to fans who are reminising about our childhood icons.

Re: be strong – Well said….!!!!
    RIP DAVY.

SO SAD! :-( I learned about the Monkees when I turned 11..back in 1996 and became an instant fan! They had fun music, I grew up on all sorts of music! I am now 27 and so sad to see Davy gone! Some part of my childhood is gone! He was an amazing singer, had great talent, charming, awesome accent, cool dance moves(that Axel Rose 'borrowed')..I'll never forget him! I am so glad I got to see him near my home in Chicago this past summer with the Monkees! So sad now! My heart goes out to his daugthers, wife and grandkids. Such a sad time…too soon!! Rest in Peace Davy!

Really sad news. I love The Monkees. People always think of them as some kind of "fake" band, but they really did play their own instruments and write their own songs (at least on two of their albums) and they were really good!

A few years ago MTV broadcast the complete "Monkees" series. I called my son and he had his four daughters watch this. My oldest granddaughter called and wanted to know if I could buy them the entire series as they couldn't watch it all because of their time restraints. At that time it was not available to purchase, even on Amazon. I promised my granddaughter today that I will try to find all of the series for them.
It makes me feel like I have skipped their dad's generation and connected my granddaughters to mine.
I will try to buy the entire series for them TODAY.
RIP Davy…all of us babyboomers loved you…..

Re: FatAzzPooHeadDoodle – Thank you. Sometimes I need to remember that young people don't think in a three dimensional manner.
