Justin Bieber Trades Birthday Cake For Clean Water!

Justin Bieber 2012

Beebs, you truly are a role model, and not just because you’re famous!

Today is Justin’s 18th birthday and instead of throwing some extravagant birthday bash, Beebs is forsaking his birthday for charity.

He tweeted yesterday:

i want to use my bday to help others. if u want please donate $18 to @charitywater on my 18th bday! #GiveBack - charitywater.org/justinbieber

Rather than give Beebs a present, he asks fans to give to Charity:Water, a non-profit organization that claims to contribute 100% of its donations to helping those in developing nations gain access to clean, safe water.

And this isn’t the first time Justin has given up his b-day for something so wonderful. Last year he raised $47,148 for Charity:Water, bringing clean water to over 2,357 people.

BUT this year, Beebs is taking it even further by inviting all fans to bogart their birthdays in favor of helping others.

According to reps at Charity:Water, 1 birthday fundraiser brings in an average of $1,000 to the foundation. If 1000 of Bieber’s fans participated, that could mean a potential of over $1 million! Now that’s a lot of clean water.

Thanks Justin, as always, you are an inspiration for young hollywood and the rest of us!

Are U going to join Justin and give up your birthday for charity??

Not to be mean, but he could do even more by buying only one house, or by spending only a few million, and using the rest for the water. (he's apparently going to spend upwards of 14 million.) So…yeah. Just saying.

Re: blondly7 – but he does donate a lot of time and money to charities as it is.. dont put down something nice that hes doing just because you have a problem he's going to buy a house for himself and one for his mother.. he uses his influence for good.. why cant he spend some of his fortune on himself and the most important woman in his life..his mom?

I'll be the first one to say it than,
    Happy birthday bieeeeeeeber.

Re: dcd060 – These celebs get a lot of praise for charitable donations, but the truth is that they donate a much lower percentage than the average person. Until these uber-rich celebs take up Warren Buffett on his challenge to donate half their worth to charity, I will not be impressed.

He was probably getting a lot of flak for that mansion he bought for his mommy. So now he's trying to backtrack by doing the mature and selfless thing and donating to charity.

Hmm. Last year he 'raised' $47K. This year he got a $200K car. I don't see him giving up yet another expensive car to help clean water. That would actually entail him giving something as opposed to asking everyone with a fraction of his wealth to give on his behalf.

If this was his idea and not his PR-team, then this was a very nice thing to do of him. Very nice - and impressive. Great going, Justin.

and people hating on this for ANY reason, need to shut the fuck up. you're disgusting. I don't care if it's his PR team, or if it's him, or if it doesn't cost him anything, or whatever. how many other celebs do you see doing as much charity as JB? besides like warren buffet and bill gates, (who have about 500x the money Bieber does), no one.

I'm sorry, I'm not denying this is very sweet, but it seems he could have just donated money to the organization and be done with it, instead of asking his fans to donate. I'm not saying he doesn't want to help, but he obviously wants some good PR to go with it. If he wanted to help for the sake of helping, purely selfless, he would have just donated money and never mentioned or publicized it. This goes for all celebrities.
