simon cowell talks britney spears on x factor

REALLY sounds like Brit might land this job!

During a recent interview, Simon Cowell opened up about the possibility of Britney Spears joining X Factor as a judge.

Here's what he had to say about it:

"'The fact that she's still one of the most talked-about - not just popstars, but people in the world today - means that you've got this star power."

"This girl's got resilience and the fact that she's survived this and she's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial…there's a reason for that."

And here's Simon on whether or not he thinks Britney could handle the judging gig:

"I would think that if she's managed to sustain in her family life a career which is tough, this is a walk in the park."

Nothing's confirmed yet, but it definitely sounds like Brit Brit might be the gurl for the job!

Fingers crossed!!!!! We'd LOVE to see this happen!!!!!!!!

She is popular, controversial, and still hot. That means ratings. And ratings are what is important, not whether or not Britney is the best for the job in terms of intelligence, thinking on her feet, being able to verbalize her thoughts, or coaching. I hope she does well, but even if she doesn't people will still want to watch her screw up, so it is a win-win for SImon.

I get the impression she wants out of the buisness and this would be an excellent exit and earn her a cool 20 million in the process. She's not really a talented singer or performer anymore as much as when she was 'hungry'. Her dancing is nothing more an a cardio workout, and other than saying 'Hello *insert random city here*, she doesn't even sing a note or even try to hide it at this point when she's live. As a judge though, I don't see her bringing anything new or innovative to the table, but she'd bring in the ratings just sitting there looking like Britney.

    Re: rosebud99 – well said!! :-)

She would totally save the show
I would watch of she became a judge

She's too good and has come too far to settle for that crap job.

It’s strange that you people EXPECT Britney to be, not only untalented, but ignorant about her own profession. Do you idiots not realise that she’s been in showbiz longer than most of you have been alive? Don’t they know that she came up the hard way, through talent shows, state fairs, local gigging – all of it live – and penniless months at performing arts schools in New York, where she spent endless days in singing and dancing lessons and practise? Why WOULDN’T she know better than most people which contestants in a talent show have the qualities it takes to make it?

Re: 7tizz – You sound stupid!! Britney did sing alot during her last tour fact!! And you could never dance like britney the average person cant. she is trained!!

Re: SlaveMeh – there is no one like britney!! america and the world fell in love with her when she was 17 and no mater what she's done, the world is still obsessed and in love with her. she can shave her head again…she can gain weight…she can get married for the 3rd time and get divorced…it doesn't matter…britney is forever and will always be loved and obsessed about all over the world. it's hard to explain to the haters…but simply put: the bitch is legend and magic!! :-)

  11. 11

Re: Fantasy – i kind of agree!! britney is legendary and she still only 30!! younger than Kim K. and Paris H.!! Katy is almost 28!! and will never be able to match half the success that Brit has!! Plus she has that killer heartbreakingly gorgeous smile that makes you melt!! :-)

Re: HAWTSTUFF – she would save the show!! it's a total shitfest now. that said, i hear simon has a really really fat huge meat pole!! he's hung like a hung donkey!! :-)

    Re: SlaveMeh
Good points that I never thought much of before. People used to dog Paula and J. Lo for their not being able to sing, yet they came up the hard way too, working their way up from behind the scenes and having more successful singng careers than all of the AI contestants who have won or have been on the show so far.

It's true, I had my doubts about Jennifer Lopez being able to articulate her thoughts. To me, she was a "you know what I mean" girl and I never did know what she meant. But she did surprisingly well in American Idol. So Britney, not known for her verbal skills (I honestly don't know what she's known for), can also surprise all of us. She seems like a kind (although lost) girl and that compassion can translate to precious pieces of advice for those who want to become show biz successes. In any case, it's something to look forward to.

Re: GoodBoyNC – Thats the thing you dont need to belt to be a good singer or entertainer. You either have great tone or great range. And britney has great tone and that can not be taught or manufactured.

  17. 17

Re: puhleezhilton – What the fuck you mean you dont what she famous for?? Bitch please!! SIT THE FUCK DOWN!!!

  18. 18

While I like Britney, I don't consider her a true artist. She is a manufactured pop star. I think X-Factor needs true artists as judges - Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Melissa Etheridge come to mind.

Re: barny – YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRIT FU*KIN' RULEZZZZZZZZZZ!! SHE'S THE SWEETEST BITCH EVAH!!

  22. 22

I love Britney. I think she's too good to judge X-Factor but if that's what she wants to do, I'll watch. I'm sure everyone else will too, as always.

  23. 23

Re: DimeDime – yeah, i DON'T want her to do this!! brit is above all this crap but i'd watch because britney is britney and we love her!! :-)

  24. 24

Re: SlaveMeh – soooo well said. I know if she did do this, she'd do a hell of a job just because she's been down that road. Britney made it the hard way. Not like some celebs like Lana Del Rey or Gaga who's family money bought them stardom… not that i'm knocking them or saying they don't have talent, but the money gave them a shot they might not've had. Anyhow, Britney's been down that road and I'm sure has a lot of great advise to offer. On the one hand, I don't want her to do this because I do think she's above it, but on the other, I want her to get on national TV to show the world she's not as dumb as they think. I know Brit is fantastic, I want her to show all these idiots how brilliant she is as a performer and artist.

Then obviously you have not seen or heard her lately. You didn't not go to latest worldwide smash hit tour..Femme Fatale. If you would have, you would have never rambled on such utter nonsense garbage. She does perform and sing live throughout 85% of the songs. It is most certainly live vocals b/c you can tell the fluctuation in voice when she is dancing. She does dance all over and interacts with the audience with lots of crowd participation. So you can talk trash and make up crap, but the facts are the facts…she does sing live and does interact and talks to her fans.

  31. 31

Re: FatAzzPooHeadDoodle – and to be so successful, powerful, rich, and famous…she still is the most kindhearted, kindred spirited person who exemplifies humbleness…CLASS ACT QUEEN OF POP

  32. 32

Re: GoodBoyNC – excluding Kelly Clarkson…she's mega talented and can sing anything with high notes and sustains them.

  33. 33

Re: SlaveMeh – That's what I am talking about LOL…I mean let's see, 9 albums (with greatest hits and compilations); 6 #1 albums; 180+million copies sold worldwide; massive sold-out tours; amazing videos; gorgeous looks; …The list goes on and on. Did you check her out on Harper's Bazaar magazine? Total hotttttneesssss

Re: justacritic – YAY BRIT!!!! Brit's fans are the best!! We know she's an innovator…*Blackout* being the most influential albums of the last ten years!! Iconic performance after Iconic performance!! seriously, i love Rihanna, but is anyone gonna remember any of her MTV perfomances?? or poor Katy!! Hey everybody!! Have you heard the news?!?! Katy Payola has BLUE HAIR!!!! LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Brit's queen for a reason… :-)
