Teamsters of Boston and beyond, Mark Walhberg’s got your back!!
Marky Mark and the folks at A&E have come together to create an unscripted reality drama that will focus on the infamous truck-driver/chauffer/warehouse-workers union - commonly referred to as Teamsters.
It will explore the inner-workings of the Union, its members, and their controversial function in American society.
According to Thompson, the inspiration for the show came from events in Wisconsin last summer, when local union members stormed the statehouse in protest of anti-union legislation.
The show also seems to be a passion-project for Wahlberg, as his dad was a Boston truck driver and teamster member.
While specifically featuring the Teamsters Local 25 in Boston, Wahlberg’s home city, the show will most likely expand its focus to teamster chapters in other cities.
Over the past few years A&E has morphed from a channel you hear your grandparents mention over bundt-cake to a forward-thinking network whose shows explore complex characters and plots that defy traditional TV story telling.
President and General Manager of A&E and BIO Channel Bob DeBitetto believes his network is the perfect home for the Teamster series:
"…A&E strives to remain ahead of the curve while delivering first-class auspices to our audience…We’re so proud to collaborate with this group of producers and offer an authentic point of view from the unique characters this world provides.”
Hmm, very thought provoking. We're excited to see this idea come to fruition!!
