She's never written a hit song. Her albums are mostly covers of well known songs and the few hits she's had were were written by others so why is a songwriters group honoring her? There are plenty of organizations that spotlight singers and entertainers but so few that honor songwriters so this seems weird.

What song has Bette written ????
We do know that she stole the idea for her film from Martha Ray,

Bette Midler wrote "Oh Industry" and "Otto Titsling" for the Beaches soundtrack. She also co-wrote "You're Moving Out Today", featured on her 1977 live album Live At last as well as the children's song "Blueberry Pie". Bette also wrote "Hurricane" on her 1979 disco-themed album Thighs And Whispers and the song "Mr. Rockefeller" featured on her 1976 album Songs For The New Depression. Bette Midler and Dustin Hoffman performed the song "Shoot The Breeze", which they performed on her 1977 NBC television special "Ol' Red Hair is Back". Should I go on???

Bette has had way more than 15 albums. Give her credit where credit is due.
