Sarah Michelle Gellar HATED Being Called Buffy!

Sarah Michelle Revisits Buffy Days

Stars often times become synonymous with the characters they portray in TV and films, whether they like it or not!

Buffy, er, Sarah Michelle Gellar tells it like it is in a recent interview:

"Back then, if you'd called me Buffy I would probably have been really annoyed. Now, of course, I get it and I'm appreciative of it. But that's something that comes with maturity, which most people don't have when they're 24 years old."

Sarah Michelle has always been conscious of her public image and feels lucky to have gotten all of her partying out of the way early AND out of the public eye.

She recalls:

"When I was younger, I was very careful not to. . .I just didn't want to be seen with a drink in my hand. People looked up to [Buffy the Vampire Slayer], and she was a character that girls respected."

What a great role model!! Gellar, 34, now stars in Ringer and is enjoying raising a family with hubby Freddie Prinze Jr. and 2 year-old Charlotte.

She looks like a train wreck. Wow the years haven't been kind to her at all!

  2. 2

Its her main claim to semi-fame. She should embrace it or retire.

    Ringer is a good show…

I'm sure she still looks way better than you! And I don't blame her for not liking to be called Buffy when her name is Sarah. She's always been appreciative about the show. Check out what she said about Buffy at the Paley Fest 2008.

I used to like her a lot, until I saw her at ComicCon when she was promoting The Grudge. Then while answering questions, people started asking her questions about Buffy (since she had never attended ComicCon while doing the show) and she was just demeaning. The last straw for me was when she was just rude and belittling to a 12yo girl asking if she ever asked herself what would Buffy do in any situation. SMG's reply? "You know she's not real, right??"

I'll take more like her please!
