George Clooney Arrested For Protesting!!!

George Clooney Arrested

This is a MAJOR issue that cannot go unnoticed!

Actor George Clooney, various members of Congress, Martin Luther King III as well as other human rights leaders, were ARRESTED today outside of the Sudanese Embassy!!!

While protesting to help save the lives of 500,000 people in Sudan, arrests were made for civil disobedience after refusing to leave the scene.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has created a blockade which is PREVENTING food and humanitarian aid from making its way to villagers in regions of Sudan!!

Bashir sent in forces to BOMB fields last July and August, which has prevented the Sudanese from growing crops, leading to a dire food shortage.

HORRIBLE!!!

USAID is now saying that this blockade will SOON bring the regions to near famine!!!

United to End Genocide President Tom Andrews spoke to the crowd:

“It is unacceptable and inexcusable that Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir—an internationally criminal wanted for war crimes and genocide—is getting away with bombing, starving and displacing hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile State.”

It is UNBELIEVABLE how the Sudanese government is allowing this to happen!

We hope the United States steps in soon to help, before it's too late!!!

There is something really strange about George Clooney. It's like he's a robot. There is nothin' going on in that head of is. He's *pretending* to care and understand this shit. Just stick to feeding models your fat cock and don't forget to feed your pet pigZ!! :-) #TotalFAKE

I'm glad hes sticking up for what he believes and what not. I'm now more interested to see how this plays out.

  3. 3

Oh boy. Well arresting him will totally bring more attention to this so hopefully someone steps in that's horrible that these people are suffering because of some moron no wonder he was protesting.

Re: Baranged – He should be protesting in America, WE are worth fighting for and we need it, that's how you know who he really works for… he's bringing light to something the US doesn't need to be involved in, we need our tax dollars to be invested in US issues, not foreign, and he's just abedding a reason for US(as in OUR over extended Government) to waste more money overseas. Its not our buss. let them solve their own problems.

    George,
    -
While you're in the Sudan, can you take a look at Egypt.
    -
Today, despite human rights abuses, detentions of Americans, the Obama Regime awards $1.3 billion in aid to Egypt.
    -
So, who is in charge over there, George?
Could it be the Muslim Brotherhood?
    -
    Twat.

Re: Ronpaulian12 – Thank you! We need to take care of our own citizens FIRST.

  12. 12

He was arrested for crossing a police line. NOT for protesting.

Re: FatAzzPooHeadDoodle – I guess you are to dumb to understand the issues and genocide Sudan is having.

Educate yourself and then post comment something intelligent. It will make you look good.

  16. @v@ says – reply to this

Something needs to be done in Sudan.

I didn't know Congressmembers were allowed to protest. For some reason I thought that. Whether he believes in it or not, Clooney sure helped the issue, if only because people are talking about him getting arrested and not really WHY he was arrested. And for those saying we should only focus on the US, you must have missed everything that happened after WWII, you know when globalization exploded and interconnected countries so that whatever happens abroad has some sort of repercussion here. The world doesn't begin and end at our borders.

Re: alemeh2 – no, i understand, goober. i just know that george is fake and should stick to what he does best. i get why your upset though!! you don't understand the issues at all AND you support obama AND if you were really interested in helping save lives, you wouldn't be hanging out on PEREZ HILTON! lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! ;-)

  19. 19

Sudan? ….Why not protest and stand up for what is wrong with this country first instead of sticking our bombs and business in another country. Ughs.

KUDOS TO GEORGE for making a very poignant, public display of his beliefs. Many countries like Sudan, Egypt and Syrian (among countless other people and international as well as domestic causes) need celebrities like George to bring attention to their dire circumstances. A lot of us try to do this very thing (although not as successfully as he), protest in freezing weather, prepare and build signage, organize groups to march, wear costumes, etc. to bring issues to light, to perhaps effect some kind of change. And although your intentions can be good, it is not always accepted by other protesters or the public.

As a rollerblading performance artist, I tried to bring attention to the atrocity of the Egyptian woman who was beaten by SCAF, the Egyptian military police, last fall — wearing skates, a blue bra and a hijab. Ultra-conservative Egyptian muslim twenty-somethings told me to cover up, more worried about me showing my midriff than what my message could accomplish. Even the noted activist Mona Eltahawy misinterpreted my performance as a "gimmick," sparking an Internet debate about my attire.

This is a new era of the Arab Spring, the OWS American Spring, etc., where renewed activism of the day's issues can make a difference, where protesting can take on creative and unpredictable forms. Spreading the message should be the priority — not judging what kind of package it comes in.

  22. 22

the LAST thing we need to do is get involved with this. we're already in three wars and our country is going to shit. the only thing we NEED to do is focus on our own country.
