Josie DeCarlo, the woman that inspired Josie McCoy from the best cartoon girl group ever, has passed away.
The widow of comic book legend Dan DeCarlo, who created the Josie And The Pussycats, passed away in her sleep. No one seems to know exactly how old she was, but we do know her husband was 82 when he passed and the woman that voiced her cartoon-self is currently 88 years-old.
Josie said the whole idea behind the show, came from one of her outfits. She explained:
“We went on a Caribbean cruise, and I had a [cat] costume for the cruise, and that’s the way it started. The hairdo came after. One day, I came in with a new hairdo with a little bow in my hair, and he said, ‘That’s it!’”
Josie spent the last years of her life promoting her late husband's name and work, and attended comic book conventions as long as her health allowed.
It sounds like the real Josie was just as amazing as her cartoon!
