Talk about going SUPER Twi-hard!!!!

Women are ranting and raving about Fifty Shades of Grey, the first book in E.L. James erotic novel trilogy. But, no one knew how the New York Times and Amazon best seller got its start.

Turns out, it was all because of Twilight!

Dear Author founder Jane Litte explains that E.L. James originally posted all three books on ff.net, a fan fiction website.

Bella as a virgin college co-ed? Edward as a sex hungry businessman? Who WOULDN'T love this?!?!

James and her popularity exploded after her books spread through the internet and word of mouth like wildfire. She attended the 2010 ComicCon and a three day conference in DC HELD BY HER FANS!

Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades of Darker are now numero uno and dos on the NYT best seller list.

Looks like no matter what kind of realm they're, ladies LUV Edward and Bella!

I read it when it was a twific, and it was AWFUL. There is some really good fanfic out there, but Master of the Universe, aka 50 Shades, is not it. It was poorly written, has no plot, and its characters are so unbelievable. If you want a good twific turned published fiction, check out Wake by Abria Mattina. Much, much better.

This is scary. When I was reading it, I totally got the Twilight vibe and I thought this is like Twilight except without vampires and with sex. I have to say, I'm not that sure why people are raving about these books. It was an okay read, but I have read many books that are so much better.

Re: clt258 – Just because it's selling doesn't mean it's good literature. It just means that women like to read about sex. If you think it is good literature, then, I'm sorry, but you need to get down to your library and check out Georgette Heyer, the Brontes, D.H Lawrence and Oscar Wilde. Let's not confuse something has mass appeal with something that is exquisitely written by the hands of literary geniuses.
