Russell Simmons On Geraldo Rivera: 'Your Apology Is Bull—!'

| Filed under: Legal MattersPolitikSad Sad

In regards to the absolutely horrible murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin, there are some people who should just keep their mouths shut!

First up?

TV host Geraldo Rivera.

Even after apologizing for blaming Trayvon's "gangsta style" hoodie as the reason why he was targeted for senseless murder, Geraldo is still getting backlash from people. Hell, even his friends aren't even standing by his side!

Longtime friend and music industry giant Russell Simmons took to his website, writing:

"Geraldo, your apology is bull—! Your apology is nothing but a defense of a racist, backward thing you already said. And I am a yogi, and I generally don't speak like this, but I have to say it like it is. It is a non-apology apology that continues to blame the victim for their appearance."

Russell speaks the TRUTH!

Simmons goes on to blast Rivera, saying:

"It's like telling women not to wear skirts because they could get raped. That's what you just did. It's freaking horrible. It's inexcusable. And you're my friend, my friend for many years. I have a great amount of respect for you, but zero respect for your apology and for what you said."

Any respect we had for Rivera has been thrown out the same window Russell used!

We are glad he didn't stick up for his friend in this case because Geraldo is so SO wrong!!

Thoughts???

No one is checking for Russell Simmons or Geraldo Rivera so both can shut the hell up.

I don't see any celebrities crying over David James, the white guy who was shot by a black guy for being on a basketball court. Please, put the race card down.

in 2009 blacks accounted for 58 percent of the murders and 90% of those were black on black. Simmons should see an epidemic there and be more concerned about those killings rather than someone, right or wrong, protecting his neighborhood. lets let the truth come out in this one. i'm tired of the media and idiots like jackson and sharpton screaming racism at America when something goes bad for someone of color…it isn't all about race ( unless of course that is the business your in and there are profits to be made. these days you can't even disagree with a presidents policies without some clown crying its racism.

Geraldo is a liberal loon so I am surprised he wasn't defending him but then again George was 1/2 Latino so he always sides with the Latino's.

Hell, Geraldo even sided with Casey Anthony's attorney because he was Latino.

  5. 5

BTW why isn't the media reporting that an eyewitness has stated that they saw Treyvon on top of George, smashing his head into the concrete and Geroge was screaming for help. AND why are they are not reporting that Treyvon had been busted earlier with a screwdriver and jewlery in his backpack and the jewelry didn't belong to his family. He responded that a "friend"" had put it there but would not give the "friend's" name.

This is going to end up being another case like the Duke rape case and Sharpton and Jackson where there race baiting that one too.

Fuck Russell! He walks down Madison Ave.. Spoiled fuck knows what its like to walk in those streets that no white person cant walk.. Is it racist to say that a white is going to get robbed or jacked or is this just the facts????

  7. 7

    It's a negro thing.

  8. 8

Blacks should of been eradicated the second we were no longer allowed to keep them as slaves. End of discussion.

Hey Perez, first off I am not taking a side here I just want to point out that you used the word "fa&&ot" a time or two whe you had that Fergie, Will.I.Am, and thier manager fight, should GLADD be done with you for your non-apology, apology???? Just asking, you sure are quick to want to be "politically correct, when you have displayed in the heat of things you aren't….so why not cut Foolraldo some slack on this issue, because truthfully this isnt the same as a woman wearing a skirt and rape, the fact is that we dont know all the facts in this case so no one should be so quick to reach judgement……..let the investigation move forward, the facts come out because only then can true justice be served!!!

It's an idiot thing! Folk who are not educated enough to know how to not compare an apple to and orange, plus know the law! A police officer or a non-police officer can't pursue, accost and kill anyone in any state of America without cause! The tapes of Geroge and he police conversation don't lie! Then check out Nike, Columbia, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. and you'll find they sell hoodies to everyone for sports purposes - including Geraldo!!!! Only the killer of a black child can go without preosecution.

  11. 11

Why stick your nose in a story only made by a bunch of racist blacks? That shooting was self defense and they all know it. Trayvon's already gotten justice.

  12. 12

STFU. This is àn adult thing and toddlers such as you Mario need to shut your piehole.

  13. 13

What about Spike Lee tweeting the wrong house involved with the shooting in Florida. The lack of reporting regarding this blows my mind. People will get their panties in a twist over someone making a comment, but when someone tweets an address (the incorrect one at that) there is no uproar. He should be arrested for criminal endangerment.

I agree with Geraldo's justification.. for those ppl who did not grow up in the hood..it is true!! clothing can do a lot for someone… baddy jeans and a hoodie can scream out gangster… Many times thats why kids get shot or jumped… Geraldo was attempting to warn parents that clothing can influence the way they children are perceived.. its reality! There are plenty of teens killed all the time in low income communities… that are not Black.. I dont understand how one case can be more special than the other… cops racially profile all the time!!! Black people act like they are the only ppl being suppressed. and like their past history justifies everything that happens… other races suffer too.. but since they dont have loud leaders like Blacks there is not a media uproar… Perez.. your an idiot

It's ridiculous how people can be so ignorant still to this day. But I guess it's what makes the world go round..
Regardless of what race the kid was, he was a KID. Innocently walking home with skittles and a tea, not bothering anyone and was pursued by a strange man for no reason other than because of what he was wearing. Who wouldn't be on the defense if they knew someone was stalking them? Hell I would be scared for my life too, especially since the guy was carrying a gun. Since when is that okay? Police told him NOT to pursue him and he did anyway. You can hear in his heavy breathing voice that he was practically chasing the kid.

Not to mention the police surveillance tapes clearly show no scratches on Zimmerman, no bloody nose, no gash on the back of his head nor grass stains. And the funeral director found no signs of a fight on Trayvon Martin's hands/knuckles. Please.. facts are facts. This man should be arrested and tried and let a jury decide based on actual facts and evidence rather than speculation from a bunch of ignorant idiots and the media. It's clear something is not right here and it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out and Zimmerman is prosecuted.

  16. 16

i agree with golfer girl wheres the report of spike lee (re)tweeting Zimmerman's supposed address only to have it turn out to be an elderly couples home. What were his actions when he retweeted it? A peaceful protest candlelight vigil in front of "Zimmerman's" house? He then received a huge backlash or racial and death tweets. Which he is retweeting and playing victim. While I don't stand for racial slurs and death threats. He lit a flame and now that he's feeling the burn he's turning this around as if he himself is on the same level as Trayvon. Also his half ass apology to those poor people who now have fled their home for their safety against the stupidity of his followers is laughable. Spike Lee is as guilty as Zimmerman.

    He's right…
