Hunger Games Books Sell 36.5 Million Copies In U.S.

| Filed under: Film FlickersHunger Games

People just can't get enough of The Hunger Games and neither can we!

We already know the franchise has become a phenomenon, with the first film opening to the humongous sum of $155 million. But what may be surprising to some is how well The Hunger Games Trilogy books have fared.

Ch-ch-check out these numbers of the young adult books in print in the U.S. alone to date:

The Hunger Games: 17.5 million copies

Catching Fire: 10 million copies

Mockingjay: 9 million copies

That's hot!!!

No doubt those numbers will go up as more people see the movie based on Suzanne Collins' work … and when the sequel comes out next year!

For those of U who've read the books and seen the movie, what would U recommend doing first - the movie or the books???

It's Twilight for guys except gals like the story too!

First the books, then the movies for sure! That way you fully understand the story and know what Katniss is thinking in all of those scenes. Btw I really loved the books and I think they did a great job with the movie! Its hard to film a movie based on a book that basically is in Katniss head. They can't show that in the movie but it was sooo good! Even though I knew what was coming, it was equally exciting!

Re: stamina – Plus it's ageless. GO MOMS!/SINGLE WOMEN/ WOMEN IN GENERAL LOL. Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games. YOU GO GIRLS.

Definitely read the book first. I feel like if I hadn't, I wouldn't have wholly understood the movie. And the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.

Also, it's such an easy read - it took me two days so it's worth it.

Re: stamina – Twilight is a horrible series with no depth. Please don't compare superior works to that trash, and even The Hunger Games series isn't all that, but to compare it to Twat-light is low.

Superior works? Chick doesn't know how to spell "mic". And apparently her copy editor doesn't, either. (Protip: It's not MIKE!)

Re: MediaStudentSaysWhat – Bitch I said The Hunger Games wasn't all that, but it is better than Twilight. Truth be told though, none of these hoes could touch a pubic hair on Rowling's vagina when it comes to creativity or depth.

Loved the books and the movie…so far so good. Hopefully, the movies to come will be even better. I hope they stick with the same producer that would keep the same flow going.

Their are a lot of great young adult books written by people of color but some how they never seem to get a moment in the spotlight, no big surprise there I guess.
