JetBlue Pilot Meltdown Leads To Charges!!!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueLegal MattersEtc.

Jet Blue pilot

After hearing about that JetBlue pilot who went cray and yelled "Iraq, al-Qaeda, terrorism, we're all going down" on his flight, we're still getting chills!

Clayton Frederick Osbon appeared to have an absolute psychotic meltdown when he rambled and ranted about terrorism and taking the flight down.

And now he's been charged with interfering with inflight crew members…good!

The criminal complaint reads:

He moved through the aircraft and was disruptive and had to be subdued and forcibly restrained from re-entering the cockpit.

And continues on, detailing his conversation with the co-pilot, saying things like "we're not going to Vegas" and "we need to take a leap of faith."

This month hasn't been the best for flying… First, a flight attendant goes mad and now this!! What is happening??? Is there something in the water??

How is this a crime? It's clearly a mental health issue.

Come on, Perez. The pilot actually suffers from a mental illness - it wasn't his fault.

I understand that crew and passengers were afraid - I would be too.

But he hadn't been drinking or taking any drugs. It happened instantly.

    So please, be nice…

You do really think a decent pilot would apply for a job at Jet Blue??? It's like a doctor who can't cut it in a professional hospital ends up working for Kaiser. These are the places that the botton of class ends up working. I hardly think this would happen on British Air or Virgin Atlantic - standards are too high for this nut job.

His behavior put crew and passengers at risk so, yeah, he needs to be charged - and treated. Hopefully the judge will mandate some sort of psychological treatment as part of his sentence.

Good? If he has a mental illness that can explain his actions, how can he be charged? Wh is that good?

When you think of how many people in general are "off their meds," then factor in people who have jobs that the public depends on for their security and you think about those people being "off their meds," it's truly scary. We are surrounded by people who could go off their rocker at any given moment and we have no control over that. Very, very scary. PIlots, Doctors, Taxi Drivers, it's just horribly frightening when people we depend on crack.

He sounds like he was having a nervous break-down. I guess arresting him was a place to start but I bet the charges will be dropped and changed to psychological assessments.

Why is be being charged? What if he really needs mental help

It was obviously a mental health break. How would he be considered mentally competent enough to be charged?
