Julianna Margulies Speaks On Her Oral Sex Scene

| Filed under: TV News50 Cent

You normally don't see oral sex on network TV…like…ever!

For The Good Wife's Julianna Marguiles, this was definitely uncharted territory! The actress and Chris Noth performed the fellation together and she calls the scene incredibly brave.

Julianna recounts her reaction when she first read what she would be doing:

The first thing that went through my mind is, 'Oh dear God, how are we going to film this?' Then, 'Oh God, my father's going to watch the show.

But I love it. I truly believe [Good Wife co-creator Michelle King] is instigating a sexual revolt for network television. I think it's brave, and I love to try things people haven't tried before.

We admire Julianna's balls (pun intended) to perform such a daring scene. This is a monumental feat, especially for NETWORK television!

…mmmh.. I haven't seen this episode, but my question is: why do people have to get excited by fellatio gettin shown on tv? does it mean that if it gets shown on a tv series, then it's real? Because, to tell you the truth, it's been around for a looooooooong while in the real world.
I like Marguiles as an actress, but I think that these performances cannot be considered acting. It's just the old story of how prudish most of the american viewers are. Or how women actresses have to bow down if they want to get on tv: show your tits, show your buttocks, play the dumb blond role.

Is his goal to have porn on network tv? What would be the pride in that? You're just using people's bodies who feel they have no say in it or else lose their job.. it's a form of sexual abuse among the actors. he's not proving or obtaining anything but sleeze and the continued objectification of women. This is supposedly a strong woman and you've now belittled her to nothing but a porn scene. Grats?

i miss the days when i could watch tv with my children. now it's all shock and all! how can we up it!

This is television after all, it will probably just be implied. Anything else would be against censorship. Strong women perform oral sex too.

Let's be done with it and have nothing but porn on tv and in the movies. Isn't that the goal? Keep pushing the envelope until we're there. Then what? They won't have any other ideas to come up with seeing as they were so "brave" and "ground breaking" and they finally managed to step over the "prudes" who want to retain a bit of decency in their viewing pleasure. Why MUST we watch things that people do in private? People pick their nose, sit on the toilet and defecate, wipe themselves, etc. We'll be needing lots of close ups of that kind of thing after the sex shock is dead. I mean, really, what more can they show us sex-wise, that isn't criminal? It's all about money anyway. Sex sells, but after awhile even the pervs will get tired of it when it's shoved in their faces and rubbed in over and over again.

Network television use to give you a choice between comedy, drama, and variety shows. Looks like they're so desperate for viewers that they are now adding porn to everything, pathetic. Oh, and to Julianna Margulies, go work for Vivid if you want to do porn so bad. Classless! Quality has been replaced by shock value!

Brave? you are a moron and so is the networks for trying to pull this crap on family tv..go to cable do whatever the hell you want but brave..shame on you Julianna…

Is this going to be a Chloe Sevigny moment or just a stimulated 2 second oral sex scene? I would not consider it "brave"

Is it supposed to be even BRAVER to show it being given to the WOMAN? Predictable.

Like other posters, I don't think brave is the correct word to describe this. The inclusion of the scene, especially in the prudish realm of network TV, is a ploy to draw a bigger audience, to stamp the show as edgy. I fail to discern the bravery in that. But I'm sure the lemmings who are enthralled by network TV will be awed by a pretend blowjob.

Reading some of these posts, I'm thinking maybe I'm wrong— The Good Wife isn't a legal thriller, it's a family show! What kid wants to watch this with his/her parents? Why would it matter that sex is being shown if kids don't watch it anyway? It's not about being prudes, it's about wanting to bitch about something. On that note, I agree this isn't groundbreaking and that some things shouldn't be told (like Re: Bevi – points out, boogers, etc), but this IS a show with a plot line about a wife and her relationship with her cheating husband and her own relationship with her boss, so a scene like this isn't COMPLETELY out of context, although I don't think it's "necessary."

"Instigating a sexual revolt?…" Yeah, that's what TV is missing-Sex! It's not like it's being shoved down our throats and being paraded in front of our children 24/7. But I'm sure it was necessary for the storyline.
