And this is just one of the many reasons why breaking the law will come back to bite you in the ass.

As we’ve previously reported, Lilo has been on the fast track to a hopeful comeback, an integral part of which was her upcoming performance in the Elizabeth Taylor biopic, Liz and Dick, set to film in Toronto.

Unfortunatly, Canada’s not too fond of convicted criminals coming into their space, potentially driving shwasted down their Canuck country roads.

But, lucky for Lindsay (as is the usual) she has $$$ to pay the best lawyers to get her criminal past expunged…at least enough to satisfy the Canadian authorities.

Because abiding by the law is only necessary for poor people, right?

No different than how the US banned Amy Winehouse or the UK banned Snoop Dogg at one point.

    Lindsay bashing time for Perez.

You don't need heaps of money to get your criminal past expunged. It's a procedure like so many more other procedures. She doesn't «pay off» Canada. *sigh*

asshole comment - not a lot of country roads in toronto or vancouver where this liz taylor fiasco is being filmed.

Anybody can apply for a temporary resident permit - which is only $200 Canadian and just about covers checking their 'criminal' records and issuing the permit. It's hardly as if only the filthy rich can afford it.

I think Vancouver and Toronto's homegrown gangbangers are a bit more threat to the Canadian public than Lindsay Lohan - there's no reason to refuse her entry to this country and Canada does appreciate the $$$$$ movie business from the USA.

    Now, the REAL story:

Lindsay has just been granted a Canadian work permit to film an upcoming Liz Taylor movie in Toronto … which is a big deal because the Canucks usually aren't too fond of granting permits to foreigners with criminal records.

Sources tell us … Canadian officials have realized Lindsay has been receiving positive marks from the court and her probation officer … and signed off on the permit hours after she completed her community service requirements yesterday.

    SHE DID NOT PAY !

She's looking like that used car that can't get off the lot…

In Canada you have to pay a fee to apply for a pardon. The pardon is not necessarily guaranteed but they usually don't decline if you can show you need it for employment purposes. It's what I did and it certainly wasn't very much money - I was on welfare and able to save up enough for it so that I could be employed again and get a security clearance (which is impossible with a criminal record). Don't have to read conspiracy theories into everything…

this, as a canadian, beyond pisses me off. Way to be ignorant.

The only thing she paid for was her lawyers. By completing her probation she obviously satisfied the Canadian government and was granted a work visa.
A work visa is what ANY non Canadian needs in order to enter the country to earn a paycheck on Canadian soil. It is not any different than any Canadian that wants to enter the US for work.
Dumbass. Now that she is trying to get it together you look for a conspiracy?

Each case is approached individually and with common sense. If she does anything shady behind the wheel or otherwise, though, it'll be a different story.

Re: Onyxescence – well put! remember, she did complete her rehab and community service as well. please check your facts before shooting your mouth off about Canada or any place or person.

You're way off Perez, Lindsay's already got her work permit approved by the Canadian government, they were reportedly impressed with her CS track record.
