Mia Wasikowska Is Madame Bovary

For the first time, Hollywood is adapting Gustave Flaubert's masterpiece Madame Bovary, and producers have cast Alice In Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska to play the titular character.

The classic French novel has seen screen incarnations in the UK over the years, but this is the first time it's getting the American treatment. It follows Emma Bovary, the wife of a doctor, who has adulterous affairs and lives beyond her means to escape her boring life.

The young actress has already played Jane Eyre, so we doubt she'll have a problem with this period piece either.

Does this sound like a movie U would want to see?

You must love getting 1 comment per story while the good gossip sites get hundreds. I'm just here to enjoy watching you die. And yes, I know you read all comments.

    Perez,
While I am sure you are making about a gazillion dollars a year from your random ass add space (lean pockets? wtf?) I am equally sure you are quickly losing readers as it is impossible to navigate your site without being bombarded by aforementioned random ass adds.

Do your research buddy. Hollywood made this 60 years ago with Jennifer Jones and directed by Vincente Minnelli.

Re: titanic – The site from which he copied this news did not do the research. Perez does not even try.

I can't stand this girl. She seems to always pick roles that require her to seem cold, rigid, distant, and poised because it seems she can play nothing else. How does no one else see it? Alice and Wonderland was a sinking ship for other reasons, too, but she has got to be the worst Alice I have ever seen. She single handedly took away all of the magic, fun, and spark from the character. Here's hoping she either gets tired of playing the same roll over and over again or Hollywood just stops casting her entirely.

The film was made long ago. Yes with Jennifer Jones, Van Heflin and a young Louie Jourdan. I watched it on TCM. Sorry can't see her doing this. Great book too. It also featured James Mason Gustave Flaubert. Happy Sunday everyone.

Like everyone else here has said, America has already made a film of this. Furthermore, it's painful and goes no where, so who is really going to enjoy watching that??
