Kirk Cameron Thinks He Was Publicly 'Stoned' For His Anti-Gay Comments

Kirk Cameron Stone

Oh really, Kirk Cameron?

The justified backlash to opposing equality is akin to stoning?

Here's what he said when he was on the 700 Club and talking about his new "documentary" about the moral downfall of the nation (SPOILER ALERT: It doesn't end up being him or his comment, what a missed opportunity.):

“[It's] perfectly making the point of Monumental, which is that societies will eventually come to the place where political correctness becomes so important that if you don't bend your beliefs to the moral standards of the politically correct, those in charge, you will be drug out to the public square and stoned, so to speak, for holding your beliefs, or you can hold them as long as you're silent.”

Blech. What's wrong with being PC, especially when it comes to the happiness of your fellow man?

We tell you, guys, we've had about as much as we can stand from Kirk "I Had A Friend Named Boner On Television" Cameron.

Why are the holly rollers always the biggest A-holes? I don't know about stoned but he does deserve a kick in the head.

  2. 2

While I don't share his political, religious or ideological belifes, I have to say I agree with him on this one, and it's not just because I had a huge crush on him when he played Mike Seaver on "Growing Pains."

  3. 3

You do realize this is the same hate you are trying to abolish, right? You sound just like him.

  4. 4

political correctness stops people from actually stonning non-virgen at their father doorsteps on the night of their weddings. thank you thinking people, we don't have to see that, at least in america. unfortunately, in other countries where they let fucking religion rule, they're still burying women up to their waste on the floor and stoning them…FUCK RELIGION and FUCK YOU KIRK KAMERON! FUCKING HAS BEEN!

  5. 5

Now he's AGAINST being stoned? Being stoned is very biblical. Make up your mind!

  6. 6

The saddest thing about him is he has NO EDUCATION to speak of, other than the little high school he received "on set." Yet he fashions himself as an "expert" on morals and gay issues. Delusional. Sadly, sadly delusional.

  7. 7

Funny, his statement is the same one that racists use to justify their racism.

  8. 8

And i would say to him that GOD makes NO mistakes!! So if GOD did not want GAYS then he would not create them!

  9. 9

He was definitely bullied because he didn't have the same views as other people. Every body should just agree to disagree!! And stop all the hate because it ain't getting you anywhere.

  10. 10

Re: Alexima – It's Virgin and Kirk Cameron.

  11. 11

what's wrong with a difference of opinion? why should he get lambasted because he doesn't agree with a certain lifestyle? as long as he's not actually hurting anyone then i don't see what the problem is. if he were a politician who was in a position to control people's lives, then it would be an issue. however, he's a has-been actor who nobody was bothered about until he said this. but of course, Perez would never accept anyone who's views don't match his own. double standards.

  12. 12

Re: JasonDiggy – I was thinking the same thing. If people want to know about society, there are educated people who study society, and not through the blinders of religion.

  13. 13

Re: SlaveMeh – Actually, Kirk's been quoted as saying that he believes that God loves & created homosexual but that God says they're to live celibate lives.

Not saying that's my opinion - just correcting on what Kirk said.

Perez - I don't really understand why you continue to give Kirk a platform on your website given that his views on this issue are so completely opposite of yours. Why continue to shine the spotlight on him? Giving him this kind of attention just continues to inflame the fighting on both sides - it does nothing for changing viewpoints, and isn't that what you want? For people who don't believe that gays have the right to marry to soften their views on this issue?

  14. 14

Re: JasonDiggy – 90% of Hollywood's famous actors and actresses have dropped out of high school or never went to college and they spew shit about politics all the time. Just because Kirk believes in God, why do we have to hate?? Aren't we all allowed free speech, our own opinions, free to believe in any higher power?? As soon as some one doesn't have your views we tear them apart. Aren't we supposed to not be bullying??

  15. bcb says – reply to this

    15

Just a matter of time until kirk is in a gay scandal… it always happens those who speak out the most are the same ones gettin in the ass.. its just a matter of time before it comes out

  16. 16

I think we all know what cutie pie Kirk really wants. Easier to fight his own desires by going after homosexuals. Come on Kirk, time to give in to your own queerness.

  17. 17

I'm all for gay rights and equality BUT you cant hate on someones opinion, it's not like he's out attacking people verbally or phsycially that would be a different story but its almost like PETA, taking trying to convince everyone your opinon is the only opinion.. their are a lot of people who just dont agree with it… it's just how it is..

  18. 18

Heaven forbid in this world anyone has a disagreement or a difference of opinion to the point where it becomes a discussion. Only when we accept the fact we think different and not all of us are cut from the same cloth (so to speak) will free speech really be free, and every time someone opens their mouth to share their opinion on such matters as sexual orientation, religion or politics, you better be prepared to be lamblasted by those who do not share your opinion. That's life!

  19. 19

What bothers me most is that if you happen to like or adore someone (say like Madonna) and she does something like endorse drug use while performing (and we all know she has waaaay more influence than Kirk)…you are always quick to judge anyone else and lable them guilty.. but in Madge's case, you don't say anything derogatory or defamatory.. you just kinda let it slide like, "uh oh, what do you think?" rather than your usual hasty and biting remarks. The fact is that you still bully and influence others to rationalize and believe what are YOUR thoughts, feelings, morals, standards, and emotions. Kirks don't coincide with yours and you continue to influence other's thoughts with your blogs and bully him publically on your very popular forum all the while you profess and portray your loving and accepting and tolerant ways. I love you to death..I hit up your website daily.. but I find it very disheartening that you've taken this road yet again. Eleen Degeneres called you out on it once and you said you'd changed. But those of us who read your posts/news know that it's not 100 percent true. You pick and chose whom to bully instead of donig it to the masses. Let's just not blow smoke anymore.

  20. 20

What does he care if someone isn't being discriminated against?

  21. 21

Seems like there's a lot of bullying from both sides. The thing is that Kirk was pushed into saying a soundbite for a cable bully that likes to have talking points or create conflict for ratings (even though his ratings are falling). Kirk is entitled to his opinion. He wasn't actually on the show to give his opinion about that issue but Piers Morgan decided that he needed some headlines and he knew how to get it. And just because someone doesn't agree with another person doesn't mean that they are promoting violence or hate. If that be the case, Perez would be one of the worlds biggest bullies and many people commenting here would be in the same boat. Learn to agree to disagree and treat each other with respect even when we don't see eye to eye. And all the people on here that are spewing so much hate towards Kirk, look in the mirror. You are worse than him.

  22. 22

I am all for the gay community but if you're going to ask a religious buff such as Kirk Cameron his views on gay marriage of course he is going to say he's against it and marriage should be between a man and a woman. I personally think you should be able to marry whoever you want but i don't think he should be getting so much greif about his views on the subject. it should be expected that he would make the comments he did knowing his religeous background

  23. 23

Of course he was, just look at some of the comments from the GayNazis in here. Heaven help you if you disagree with a gay, you will be glitter bombed and GLAAD and Perez Hilton will get their frilly panties in a knot. They may even threaten to force you to watch Glee as punishment.

  24. 24

We cannot have it both ways. I do not believe his beliefs but he has a right to them, just the same as gay people have the right to their own too. He was asked a question and he answered the question plain and simple. As long as he allows people to live their lives and does not interfere then he has the right to his freedom of speach. Religion has no place in government and should have no impact on marriage or anything else. It should be equal rights for all and thats means Kirk Cameron also. I do believ churches have the right to say they do not want to have gay marriage in them because that is their belief but it has no place in government policy.

  25. 25

Re: rickraton – Lmfao, there's that cliché line straight from the gay handbook. Everyone who has an opinion opposite a gay is automatically a closet gay, lmao. Foolish gays and their fantasies. Does that handbook still state that 10% of the population is gay too?

  26. mw says – reply to this

    26

I abhor the crap he spews but for better or worse it's what he believes and he was actually not a hateful douche about it. He is clearly against homosexuality but he did not sound like hated gay people. There is a discrepancy with 2 things he has been taught to believe: homosexuality is wrong and to unconditionally love others. Poor simpleton is at an impasse.

Organized religion is manmade. It's very simple, just love one another, judge only yourself and treat others as you would like to be treated.

  27. 27

Leave Boner out of this! That poor guy is dead! For f***s sake!

Re: Lady Who? – have not seen how many anti gay activist get caught with a dick in their mouth.. closeted homos are full of self hate and usually spill their anti thoughts to anyone who will listen then suck dick in the alley.. no gay handbook.. just turn on the news!!!

  29. 29

Re: Lady Who? – "a gay"? If you have a problem with homosexuality , then why are you here? And rickraton has a good point, there are many examples of men who protest too much. Former Senator Larry Craig comes to mind, and he was in a position of power to exercise his anti-gay hypocrisy.

  30. 30

It's always interesting to me to see so many "Christians" being the most vocal and hateful towards gays when their religion preaches "turning the other cheek" and "loving thy neighbor". My daughter had a gay friend in HS, whom she was ultimately defending her rights on a daily basis to her so-called "Christian" friends. It convinced her better than I ever could, that most of the Christian based faiths out there are nothing but snake pits. (Luv our God, pray at our church or go to hell with the rest???)

  31. 31

I'm sorry but do you people expect to change the way that things have been all of this time over night? I commend this man for sticking to his beliefs and not contorting to this new wave of change. He is entitled to feel the way he feels as do many others and he expressed his opinions about it in a way that does not seem hateful (as in he's not running around shouting f*g ect at all gays). What you seem to think is that everyone who doesn't see it how you see it is wrong. It's his life so let this man live it however he wants to just as you will continue to do the same with yours. People shouldn't have to be afraid of the "backlash" and should be allowed to speak what they feel as long as it's not harming others. I say way to go Kirk!

  32. 32

Re: Nessa71 – Marriage is religious so you are wrong with that statement..

  33. 33

Re: Novel1 – Those are not true Christians.. I see it the way the book says to see it, i'll love my neighbor and not mind their business when it comes to their sin because that's what you are supposed to do. The punishment and judgment for those sinners will come from God and only God.. The people who run around spewing pure hatred have interpreted the book their own way and are going against the word of God.. To each his own i say, but if i'm not hating on you, then you shouldn't hate on me for giving my opinions on such topics as well… It is my right..

  34. 34

Re: Jamie71489 – I think it's easy for you to say "everyone should just agree to disagree" when your rights aren't on the line.

  35. 35

Re: amycakes86 – Because 'having a difference in opinion' is not the same as publicly condemning a group of people because of the way they were born and trying to keep them from having the same rights as everyone else.

  36. 36

Re: NOLAgurl2010 – Jews and atheists get married all of the time. So… What now?

  37. 37

I would like to start off saying I'm a married woman to the most awesome man. I also have been best friends with the most amazing woman for the last 19 years. Right before I got married that beautiful woman/best friend was also my lover for the last 19 years. Although we both have always had long term boyfriends throughout our friendship there is no denying we have the most beautiful and open friendship. I believe that anyone who is in love no matter their gender has the right to marry. Now that is my opinion and I value the fact that I have the right to speak it no matter who disagrees. Who are we to say though, that Kirk Cameron doesn't have that same right. I respect his convictions and his courage to voice them. Like Thomas Jefferson once said, "I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, religion, or philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend." aren't we all friends? We all are human beings that want love and acceptance. I'm all for voicing your opinion no matter how different it is from my own. It's when we throw intolerance and hate out into the universe with our words that it becomes a different issue. If he is respectful to those he differs with we shouldn't say anything negative about him. He is standing up for what he believes in just as we are.

  38. 38

EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion! If he is uncomfortable about homosexuality or even if he is disagrees with it, he is still allowed to have his own opionion!
I completley agree with this statement because it is true…

  39. 39

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Everyone is so quick to defend Mr. Cameron's right to free speech, but there's a difference between free speech and publicly condemning a group of people because of the way they were born and trying to keep them from having the same rights as everyone else. Go back to the 1960's during segregation and you will find the same people valuing their right to free speech more than the rights of many african americans. It's not just his opinion when his words have access to millions of ears and he is trying to create legislation in this country to carry out his bigoted views.

Yes, free speech is a crucial part of this society, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have consequences to what you say. It is more than our right, it is a responsibility, for our society to speak up against the bigots in this country. If Mr. Cameron doesn't like getting negative feedback for the bigoted things he said, then he simply shouldn't have said them in the first place. This isn't a debate over free speech. It's amazing how eerily similar this issue is to the civil rights issue of the 1960's and this country has learned nothing from it.

  40. 40

Goodness Perez give this a rest. The man is entitled to his own opinion. That is the beauty of this country. One can't aways share "your" beliefs. You have failed miserably in allowing one to have a right to say and think what ones feels without constantly bashing the guy.

  41. 41

Fact: There are gay people in our society. They do not choose to be gay.

Like it or not, they are there. They could easily be a friend or family member.

The reality is do we choose to get along with everyone and hope for world peace or
do we discriminate and hate people who are different?

  42. @v@ says – reply to this

    42

It looked to me like gay people felt publicly stoned by his words.
If you're going to dish it out, you'll have to take it.

  43. 43

I dont agree with him, but I whole heartedly support his ability to express himself without such a knee jerk backlash. This is America. We have freedom of speech. He neednt walk goosestep with the agenda if he doesnt want to.

  44. 44

He did not speak out against equality. He spoke about his religious belief. Too bad Perez Hilton's brains are so full of top pig cum he can't see reality. Go fuck yourself petunia pig.

  45. 45

Re: boston61 – Why are bloggers allowed to attack someone for their opinion? Kirk Cameron did not use pejoratives or call gay people hateful. He simply stated his opinion about gay marriage. If you are truly concerned with equality, perhaps you should allow people to answer questions they are asked without attacking their character. He is entitled to state his opinion with out idiot assholes like you being hypocrite dumbfucks. Go give head to a shotgun you waste of life.

  46. 46

    COUGH hypocrite COUGH

  47. 47

Oh I get it, so because he wants to live a miserable life as a closeted gay man so should the rest of gay society.. I love these Christians that claim they know exactly what God wants from us all just because they interpreted the bible a certain way. Who the hell cares who a person sleeps with, it's none of my business or his! I am mad at myself for even straining my hand to type about someone that is not relevent, just ignorant!

  48. Wrenn says – reply to this

    48

Why is your views as a homosexual more important than his views as a Christian??? You scream about bigotry, but you are the biggest bigot of all Mario. You are anti-Christian.

  49. 49

Some people are BORN gay, get over it & get used to it! People are not born christian. People are taught to hate, by their parents & peers. Makes their shitty lives feel more pius! Why are most outspoken zealots the biggest bullies, who try & turn around and play VICTIM? Kirk Cameron is a delluded righteous bully!

  50. 50

Re: Wrenn – This has nothing to do with Mr. Cameron being a Christian. This is about him being a bigot. No matter how poised, calm, and collected his demeanor, he is still a bigot. Not all Christians are bigots. In fact, the Christian way teaches to love thy neighbor and not to judge above all else, and the fact that people like you use the bible to justify your bigotry proves just how low of an opinion you have of the bible itself.

Mr. Cameron is also trying to keep rights away from certain individuals simply because of the way they were born and who they love. It's not just an opinion when bigoted legislation is involved and peoples' rights are at stake.

  51. 51

I don't agree with his beliefs on gay marriage, but he should have the right to state them without so much backlash. He stated his opinion based on his faith without using any derogatory terms so why is everyone acting like he didn't have the right to state his opinion when asked? He did not go out of his way to discuss this topic- he was asked for his opinion.

  52. 52

It's not his personal views that have been so under fire, it's the way he is unable to express them, by denouncing homosexuality as being detrimental to our society, morally and ethically wrong, etc.

  53. 53

I totally agree with Kirk Cameron (Team Cameron)… I don't agree with his beliefs, but he is exercising his 1st amendment right. Just like you have yours Mr. Perez Hilton so does he ! He is not a bigot for his beliefs. The reason this country was started was to get away from religious persecution. I am a bisexual male and I feel what he says is ok. It is better then saying I disown my child, or i wish them dead. I remember when Tracy Morgan had this issue and you seemed not as pissed off as you are at Mr. Cameron. Or at least you forgave him because he started PSAs. At lleast kirk didn't wish his son dead. He is respectfully disagreeing on the issue of gay marriage. Get off your pedestal because, as much as I love you, you are not God's gift to this planet.

    54

It is a free country and that applies to all, he is entitled to say what he feels BUT he also has to deal with the backlash..Kirk cant have both ways..because the people who disagree can say how they feel as well! and I guess there were more people who disagree than agree, thats why Kirk feels so stoned!

  55. Rossi says – reply to this

    55

I heard Kirk has a bifurcated dick that can do two men at once.

  56. 56

    political correctness

your not going to stand and tell a retard they cant marry or someone of any race creed or color but ur going to tell a gay person they cant marry and then blame the backlash on political correctness

its about rights equality for all people to love who they want to love and have the love acknowledged as a equal relationship in society as anyone else.. given the chance to have legal commitment marriage love and children..

he wouldnt speak out with such venom against any other groups so why gays..

    is he closeted..

  57. 57

I agree with him. The attitude seems to be "think like us or we'll go out of our way to try to ridicule you in public". aren't people allowed to have different opinions?

  58. 58

Re: SlaveMeh – God gave us all free choice to do right or wrong. You have the ability to rape children and murder old ladies too. It obviously doesn't mean that God condones your doing so.

  59. 59

Re: joethehobo – Bigot: A word that's used a lot to describe someone who doesn't think and have the same opinion as you do.

  60. 60

Re: charmedbpbRe: charmedbpb – I have a feeling that if he had replaced the word 'homosexual' with 'black people' you wouldn't be so quick to defend him. No one is challenging his right to free speech, they are just enraged by what he said, and rightfully so. Why are people so quick to defend his right to free speech rather than the rights of their fellow citizens to marry the person they were born to love? After all, people against gay marriage are the aggressors here, not the victims.

  61. 61

I am all for equal rights. But it is not fair to ask everyone to feel the same way you do. People do want to live the lfe jesus wanted them too, and you cant ridicule kirk cameron for having the guts to not cave into the new rule that if you oppose gay marriage, you are a bigot and a homophobe. He did not say he is against gay people. Just gay marriage. And all the gay people harrassing him are being the BULLIES you always cry over for victimizing you!

  62. Faith Clark says – reply to this

    62

I think its SAD that GLAD and other groups PREACH 'understanding' but they are the WORST at NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT PEOPLE WHO DON"T SHARE THERE OPINION ARE OKAY. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH. If its okay, to believe being GAY is OKAY, then its should EQUALLY be OKAY to BELIEVE its NOT OKAY TO BE GAY.

  63. 63

When homosexuals get stoned, it tends not to be a figure of speech.

Free speech isn't the right to say stuff without criticisms. Kirk has every right to say that homosexuals don't deserve the same rights as everyone else, just as the grand dragon of the KKK has the right to say whatever racist crap he wants to say. Just as the rest of the world has the right to call Kirk a small-minded homophobe.

  64. 64

Re: Faith Clark – Um, by using your logic, you are saying that it would be perfectly fine for someone to say it's not okay for someone to be black. This isn't a debate over free speech. He has the right to spread his bigotry, just like we have the right to tell him he's wrong.

  65. 65

Political correctness is basically asserting 'all for one, one for all' which doesn't work. Diversity of opinion is healthy, as long as there's respect.

  66. 66

Last time I checked we are America! freedom of speech and freedom of opinion!!!! You Go Kirk!!! oh and Tracy Gold is still very fuckable!!!!

  67. 67

I think Kirk as anyone else has a right to his or her own opinion but we don't all have the chance to go on national TV and voice our opinions. Yes I think he should keep discriminatory or racist comments between him his family and the church.
