Transexual Beauty Queen Is Allowed To Compete In Miss Universe Canada

| Filed under: Gay Gay Gay

Jenna Talackova

Yay! Such good news!

Thanks to the wonderful organization GLAAD, transexual beauty queen Jenna Talackova has been cleared to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant!

Previously, the Donald Trump-owned organization had squashed Jenna's dreams by disqualifying her because she was born a male. Since discrimination is NEVER cool, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called upon the Miss Universe Organization to review her case.

In a statement released on Monday, the organization revealed they had reversed their decision:

“The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions.”

So awesome! In response to the change of heart, a spokesman for GLAAD said:

“The Miss Universe Organization made the right decision and has taken an important first step. Now, GLAAD urges the Organization to include all women and use this incident to speak out in support of the transgender community."

We totally agree! It's a shame that this situation needed intervention from a third party, but that is exactly why GLAAD exists and we can't thank them enough for all the good they do on a daily basis.

Good luck in the competition, Jenna!

I have no issue with Jenna being in the competition.

My only question is … is this the most gorgeous contestant Canada can put forth? Jenna's pretty but not really in the beauty pagent contestant category. Contestants are usually stunningly beautiful, not just attractive.

  2. 2

she was born a man? wow couldn't tell. she's gorgeous!

  3. 3

Like i said when your first reported this, it was never a question of discrimination. She lied on her application, and so she was disqualified for it. Honestly, i feel bad for other contestants over the years who have been disqualified for the same, but because they couldn't cry discrimination they were left in the dust. Just because someone is transgender, doesn't mean every single thing that ever happens to them in an act of discrimination.

He makes a very pretty girl - but he's still genetically a he……
    just sayin'

This is great news, being born a women is not only based physical attributes and she has every right to enter the competition. My only worry is that her long thin/lanky frame, reserved mainly for males, will send the wrong message to young girls. Her figure is quite unrealistic for 95% of the female population. What do you think Perez?

  6. 6

She's a lair and she looks like ivanka trump..so I don't see any beauty queen prizes coming her way any time soon. And bitch please…look at the size of those hands and rabbit feet. She makes Paris Hiltons feet look like a geisha girl

  7. 7

    He/She looks like a Porn Star…

  8. 8

Let her compete, it's about whether or not the judges think she's beautiful. If it was a tennis match I'd say not fair.

  9. 9

I'm happy for this guy/girl. But one thing that happens every time I feel good about a story. You go and fuck it up. With your bullshit discrimation talk and no bully bullshit, it just makes me sick. This person wasn't being descriminated against, it's called the rules. Just like boy's can't join the girl scounts. Is that descrimintaion against all boys???? You are a fucking fool, with the mentality of a 14 year old girl.

no matter what he has had cut off or tucked in, he is still a man. Come on people think about it.

  11. 11

    Bravo!

  12. 12

Great! Binding the rules again for one whiney ass cheater. I don't get my way i'm gonna sue…wah wah wah…boohoo…. grow a set of balls. Oh wait, you cut those off.

  13. 13

When I first saw her I was confused because her face is not very pretty at all. And the then is is that she lied to be in the contest. Liars, no matter what the reason, shouldn't be rewarded. Period. Come on, Perez. You should be honest and support the organization for upholding the rules instead of defending a liar just because you support his/her personal platform.

  14. 14

That awkward moment when a transexual is way hotter then you'll ever be :D

  15. 15

It's time to round up all the sick freaks and get rid of them.

  16. 16

As usual, the gays don't want just equal rights they want special and preferential rights.

as a trans-woman myself i couldnt agree w/ you more! now the judges are either going to be too scared NOT to put her in top 5 or too pissed bc they feel they have to put her in the top 5 that they dont judge her fairly…. not to mention i dont think anyone that has had THAT much cosmetic surgery deserves to be in a beauty pageant that isnt on "the swan"

    19

All the people calling her a liar (even the ones who don't know how to spell it but feel empowered to judge) should stop and think back to any application they have ever filled out. I have NEVER seen the question "Were you born: Male or Female" in my entire life. They ask "Gender: Male or Female". She identifies Female so she answered correctly. I am truly sympathize that it offends all of you it has nothing to do with. Oh, the integrity of pageantry! How will it ever survive!! Especially when all of the entrant who were born female are just as fake in appearance. Fake breasts, teeth, hair. Vasilne to smile "better". 5 times the makeup to "look natural". Heels to enhance and body tape to reduce. None of them look "real". I feel bad for her that she feels the need to be part of this charade.

And those who cry foul that "every little thing" that happens to a transgendered person doesn't equate discrimination really need to use your head. If a judgement is based off them being transgendered, that IS discrimination, in fact it's textbook discrimination. Just as if some one is denied a job for being black, someone gets a lower wage for being female, or a couple can't have a legally viewed marriage because they are of the same gender.

And all of those disagree with these truths, why are you here? I mean, I know you can and should be allowed to think and say and feel whatever you want (as long as it's not hateful) but if this site and its proprietor are contrary to you're personal views, why be here? You knock Mario for being Gay, "stupid", a "bully", a "thief", late to post stories and politically biased, and yet you show up to expel energy in negative and usless ways. I don't see eye-to-eye with Mr. Limbaugh, but I don't listen to his program, call in to say hateful thing on his show or comment on his site, or ones like it. Just seems like a waste of everyones time.

  22. 22

TO ALL THE UNINFORMED BIGOTS AND HATERS… The Miss Universe Canada website states that to enter, women must be a Canadian citizen and between the ages of 18 and 27. If basic requirements are met, they are asked to fill out a longer application form. The form does not mention any rules against sexual reassignment surgery.

Re: Meggie246524 – she isn't Miss Canada, she is competing to be Miss Canada….there are many beautiful women competing

  25. 25

    Go Jenna!

  26. 26

"called upon" By that, they mean GLAAD released the contact info including personal contact info with everyone involved with Miss universe then proceeded to call upon its supporters (glaad) to harass and spam the shit out of them until they finally gave in.

These organizations simply use harassment tactics to get their way.

  27. 27

Re: websnap – It doesn't matter. Biologically shes a male. It doesn't matter if they identify themselves as being a girl. It doesn't matter if you chop your peen off..You're still biologically considered a male.

That said, there are now laws in place to where -IF YOU- meet the gender requirements then you can legally change your gender. So if her country recognizes transgenders then yes. However if she did not meet the laws that would LEGALLY allow her to file as being female..then what she did was indeed cheat.

  28. 28

A slap in the face to real women born with real vaginas and ovaries. I have nothing against transgender people but how can the natural born female contestants compete with someone who bought their femininity? Some women don't do surgery for pageants like Carrie Prejean so what advantage can they have? Oh well, Miss Universe is trashy anyway.

  29. 29

    Good on her

  30. 30

At least she's been open about being transgender though. Had it been an American transgender woman I highly doubt they would ever tell the truth.

  31. 31

It's not discrimination you stupid fuck. She was born a man, and she lied on the entry form.

  32. 32

    Re: NookiesWA
As a geneticist myself, I am wondering if you have ever had a full genetic work up? No? Thought not. You would be AMAZED at the statistical figure of human population who have genotypic chromosomes that don't match with their phenotype. There is a huge number of males walking around out there with an extra "x" chromosome, as well as biological females who happen to carry a "y". Where do these people fit into your category? According to you, only biology matters. But genetic biology is not really so cut and try. You should take a class before you open your mouth.

  33. 33

Why can't he/she enter the Tranny Contest at every gay bar on Friday nights…

All Male-to-Female transexuals are COCK-CRAZY; they have hundreds of men having their way with them weekly…

Re: Locust – The get placed in the FREAK Category…..DUH!

Proof that the new standard of beauty is your male best friend in high school with long hair and boob implants.

If she had legally changed her gender (done all the paper work) then this shouldn't have been a problem. If she hadn't legally changed her sex then she did indeed lie on her paper work and she should be disqualified.
I just feel bad for the other contestants. There are some truely exceptional candidates and now this contestant will overshadow their accomplishments. I smell a marketing ploy somewhere….

    Re: NookiesWA

Yes, yes it does matter. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't matter.

Both the reproductive and genetics argument is bullshit, because i can guarentee no previous entrants needed to verify chromosome makeup or prove a working vagina because for some reason, that would be a massive invasion of privacy. And yet, treating people differently is not discrimination.

Oh, and to the person that thinks Carrie Prejean didn't have surgery, give your head a shake. While I'm sure she didn't go thought the extent Jenna did, she got implants, lifts and dental surgery, which is par for the course for these pageants. Both these women thought going under the knife would bring out the beauty these horrible pageants make people think they lack.the difference being that one was superficial as she wasn't pretty enough, the other didn't see herself in the mirror. She did it for herself not you.

  40. 40

Re: Websnap – sounds like you're making excuses for why the trans person had surgery, as if they have more of a right to have plastic surgery than anyone else in the world. Unless you're having plastic surgery to correct your face from a fire or accident then all the other reasons are the same for everyone. You know that there are people who think they should have been born as animals and they have surgery for that too. What do you think of them?

  41. websnap says – reply to this

    41

    Re: DimeDime

Equating people to animals is extremly cruel, check yourself. Comments like that (comparing a person who has surgery to look like the PERSON they feel they are, to a person who is trying to look NOT like a person) dehumanizes people. You do not have the right to do that. No one is more "person" than another and alluding they are less than a person is extremly bigoted.

Carrie Prejean was already beautiful, like most pagent contestants, but felt they needed to alter themselves out of society's pressure to fit a "specific beautiful" mold. Jenna felt the need to alter herself because of identity. While it's a shame both are even necessary, one could have been done with out a major impact on their life as they would have just continued to be beautiful withour risking their life in surgery.

These aren't excuses, they are reasons. Just cause you don't like them doesn't mean they aren't true.

  42. 42

    Re: Lady Who?

holy bigoted batman! how the hell is this asking for preferential rights? She is a girl that was born in a man's body. Now she is in the body she was always meant to be in. As a member of the female sex she has every right to be in this competition.
