Rihanna's Confession: Why She's Keeping Chris Brown In Her Life, Criticism Or Not!!!

| Filed under: RihannaLove LineChris Brown

After months of speculation and eyebrow raises, Rihanna has opened up about keeping in touch with Chris Brown.

The man may have brutally beat her, but somehow she's able to keep a respect for the hip-hopper and even blow us away with their incredible music collaborations.

According to Rih, she is fully aware of the criticism swirling around her reignited contact, but that's not going to stop her from following her heart.

She says of the whole ordeal:

I respect what other people have to say. The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently. It's very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time ranting away, and that's all right. I don't hate them for it. Because tomorrow I'm still going to be the same person. I'm still going to do what I want to do.

But don't think she hasn't learned or gained anything from the 2009 beating. She firmly states:

It gave me guns. I was like, well, f*ck. They know more about me than I want them to know. It's embarrassing. But that was my opening.

That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. I wanted people to know who I am. Whatever they take that to be, good or bad, I just want them to know the truth.

I have more freedom the more people know about me. It's like, one less skeleton in the closet, one less burden, one less secret; now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don't have anything to hide.

And we all heard those guns shoot on Rated R!

Also, like we've said before, we may not be comfortable with her moving forward with him, but it's her prerogative to live her life and present herself however way she wants to.

We know she's smarter than a lot of people are giving her credit for…. We just hope his actions will reflect the faith she has in him!!!

yes she is right, i still think she is an idiot.

  2. Gonzo says – reply to this

She's an overrated "singer" and clearly isn't bright. Ooh and she's going on tour which means more live sex shows for the kiddies, great.

  3. 3

She's not moving forward. They did a song together. I don't see how that means he's back in her life.

  4. 4

Re: tutituti – Bitch you're dumb. You obviously never heard of forgiveness.

  5. meh says – reply to this

Spoken like a true abused woman….smdh. It's so sad because she had the opportunity to make a difference and take a stand for other women who've been abused or continue to be.

  6. 6

she's a HORRIABLE example for people. Not just young girls, or women but for ALL people. It's never ok to physically abuse someone. If you are being abused in any way, contact your local police or child protective agency. It's not your fault. You deserve better.

  7. 7

Let's get this straight, WE don't know that she's smarter than people give her credit for. That must be something YOU know from a personal relationship with her. Her actions & words indicate to me that she is just as limited as I always thought. She has a voice (not a very good one) and it is her prerogative to use it as she wishes. I just hope the parents whose children want to idolize her are doing their job and explaining to these young girls why she is a vapid, selfish little hypocrite and nobody's hero.

  8. Hillary says – reply to this

Why did you edit the actual article where she was quoted as calling out bloggers for ranting? I think Chris Brown is a douche but you are a ridiculous hypocrite

  9. 9

She doesn't know shit so quit frontin' gayboy. This stupid whore, what a child. "When i'm told no, it makes me wanna do it more" attitude. Like a fucking 12 year old. What a ghetto bitch. She better not come crying when he beats her nasty skank ass again. 1st time, he's a loser, 2nd time, she deserves it for being stupid. What a dumb kunt.

  10. 10

I'm Florida…..Bitch, YOU'RE dumb. Forgiveness is all good and fine, but it really says something about her self worth for her to forgive and continue to have someone like him in her life. Not only did he beat the living shit out of her, but he has continued to this day to act like an arrogant, self righteous prick about it. If you would forgive someone who beat you up and left you bloody and bruised then I really feel bad for your level of intelligence. Honestly my biggest gripe with Rihanna is her complete disrespect to her own fans. The majority of her fans are young girls, and the way she acts is doing a major injustice to them. She parades around in see through outfits, sings songs about enjoying being beaten with whips and chains, and collaborates with former abusers? What a great role model for today's youth. At least there are ladies like Beyonce out there who live their life with some class.

  11. 11

Another idiot black woman standing by a beater black man. Perhaps they can have kids together and make them a statistic

  12. 12

She sounds especially vain and vulgar. Perhaps she & CB deserve one another.

  13. 13

Re: meh – Bitch, your dum as hell. You must be a black chick/dude. In the ghetto community, it's not rare to see a bitch get smacked. Yeah, forgiveness, my ass. You get one chance, if you beat a woman, you don't get another with her. Just the way it is. I'm guessing you'd say the same thing about a rapist and child molester. Forgiveness. Fuck that, he's a bitch for beating her, and she's a fucking dumb bitch for fuckin him again.

  14. 14

    love her!!

  15. 15

Tina Turner all over again , only Tina was talented.

    Re: hoochpit
Apparently, you're illiterate or meant to reply to someone else. Either way, race has nothing to do with it. Asians abuse women, white men abuse women, Hispanic men abuse women, French men abuse women. Weak imbeciles abuse women regardless of their race.

  17. 17

Glad Rihanna is moving forward, but Chris Brown is happy where he is. He is not a violent person, and one encounter in his past will not determine his character forever. He is in a great place and is remaining POSITIVE, which is the key. I guess Rihanna saw that nothing can bring Chris down, and wants to hop on the bandwagon…She is right..Its HER life.

  18. 18

    Re: misty89 – nonsense - once a woman beater….always a woman beater.

  19. 19

Re: lord flashheart – … and Tina was smart enough to leave Ike.

  20. bionicsamm says – reply to this

She's a poor example for the people who follow her. There are some things in life where second chances don't qualify, abuse is one of them.

She can do whatever she wants, but that doesn't mean she's going to get respect for it. Or even sympathy when he does it again. He still doesn't have his anger under control and who knows how crazy it will be next time.

  21. PigNuts says – reply to this

So…this was a skeleton? Shes into it? Based on the songs she has made since then it sounds like shes in the sub and abusee role alot. Some women just need to get their asses kicked.. to feel something…Hopefully she will get nude soon and bare the good side of her skeletons…Poor role model for young girls though

  22. NTl says – reply to this

    Some people never learn.

  23. sara says – reply to this

She sounds just like every other girl being controlled by an abusive man! Pathetic and sad

  24. Rosie says – reply to this

Yeah. Okay. Let's just see what she's got to say when he hits her again. I honestly lost all respect for her. I don't even like her music but I admired her strength when speaking out about the abuse and how she grew stronger from it. I thought she was a great role model. But now, I'm absolutely disgusted at her. Going back into the arms of your abuser? Great message. Why not make a song about it, Rihanna?

  25. Whoa says – reply to this

I think the trashy wig weave is on too tight! Girl has no education, No Class and No Brains!
Men that beat the shit out of women deserve nothing! Karma will bite his ass. As for Robin, what did she go to the police for? Suck it up Big Girl!!!

Re: misty89 – Past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour..so yes it sorta does determine his character forever.

  28. just so you know says – reply to this

I was once abused and even through it all I gave myself time to not really forgive my ex but we to this day are really good friends, I think every situation is different and though no one told me not to stay friends with him because you are going to whatever it is that you want to do.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to get on my case and call me stupid blah blah blah, I really don't care because it was my relationship in the end and as far as I'm concerned in a relationship its always about you and that other person, not you and that other person plus all your friends, family, and fans if you're famous.

I'm happy that Rihanna is able to forgive and maybe not forget what happen but at least they're both much more mature and wiser now. I think Chris Brown has grown up since 2009 and he has showed us that he isn't that horrible person that he once was.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but in the end it's her decision to do whatever her heart desires to do. Instead of getting on her case and talking on this site or other blog sites why don't you just get off the computer and do something worth doing. Stop making other people's lives yours.

rihanna + chris brown = good for kids. just watch the below video!

  30. 30

this is forever what chris brown and rihanna will be immortalized for:

  31. 31

Re: just so you know – you must be stilling messing around with him or haven't really moved on. there's no way that you're in a new, healthy relationship, moved on from your past abusive relationship and still friends with your abusive ex. once you've really moved on, then tell us what happened with your ex and if you two are still friends.

as for rihanna… she can and will do what she wants. but she can't act like it's no big deal. anyone with a brain can see why so many people would have a problem with this. i was in an abusive relationship where i kept going back and each time i did, i felt more and more ashamed. i hated myself because i knew how pathetic and stupid i looked. she would have to be incredibly stupid to not realize how she looks right now. and if she's all about putting everything out there, then when he kicks her ass again, i want her to not try to shy away from it. put the photos out there, tell everyone what happened. every little detail. if she doesn't, then she's full of shit and we'll see that she's just a little kid trying to prove an extremely stupid point right now.

  32. 32

Re: WakeUp2TheTruth – The majority of her fans are not young girls. Her music doesn't cater to children at all. Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, etc. they cater to kids. Another thing, bitch call me dumb again. Go lick a c-u-n-t.

  33. 33

You hoes know nothing. People can't change? Damn! Do you even know what caused the altercation? No. Obviously Rihanna isn't as innocent as you all want to make her out to be, and she knows she isn't and that's why she doesn't hold a grudge. Holding in pain is one of the most self-destructive things a human being can do. Forgive and let it go. You don't have to necessarily forget, but damn, move on with your life. Chris Brown apologized and moved on, Rihanna accepted his apology and moved on. They are no longer dating. They seem very mature in the way they handled the situation if you ask me.

  34. 34

Bitch you're dumb. I'll say it as many times as you want and it will still be as true as the first. Nobody is calling Rihanna innocent. I have no doubts that she played a heavy role in whatever happened the night of the beating, and honestly I don't feel bad for her. How do you feel bad for somebody for getting beat up by their boyfriend who then down the road releases a song about how she gets off on abuse? You saying the majority of hers fans are not young girls is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. Of course they are. Most adults don't listen to trashy ass Rihanna because quite frankly her voice isn't good. She's a completely manufactured act. No originality, no real thought put into her songs. She just does what the label tells her to do, and throws in some slutty behavior for extra fame points. But hey looks like your buying into it so each to their own. :) oh and I'm not really intimidated by your hard ass computer demeanor so move along.

So move on and get on wid ur life. If u truly h8 hr den y r u commenting on evry article dat's about hr.

I think Perez comments have alot of merit. She is her own person and of course has the right to live as she pleases. And I believe that she would have learned alot of hard lessons through all of this which have made her stronger. I am sure she would still care about Chris Brown and the songs are great. And I am also sure that she would not be the same vunerable young girl dealing with him. Really its a new time now, 2 older and wiser people who have learned and grown. I will be giving them the credit for this and hoping the best for them both. No would wish what happened on anyone, but everyone deserves the chances to make things right as well. Great Article Perez.

Re: damedelamour – The problem I have with this is everyone is using their own personal experience against Rihanna and Chris Brown. Who ever said that Rihanna was in an abusive relationship. She got in a physical fight with CB at 19 over a girl. One time incident. If you ever follow CB from the beginning of his career you would see that he isn't this monster and bad boy the media made him out to be. Actually he was immature, spoil and mommas boy from VA. I think Rihanna knows that and she knows how the media exaggerated the situation. I am black and I can see that CB is no bad boy, trust me there are real cases of DV and Bad boys on the streets. I think its hard for white people to see the real person CB is because he is black. The same as Trayvon Martin, all blacks are the same in their eyes. The Urban fans has moved on from this situations over two years ago, they have forgave him. You can see the difference at the two awards shows. The Grammys backlash- The BET awards show, CB got 6 awards no backlash. I am just speaking like I see it and must urban fans know that its mainly the white and mainstream people who are still blocking this man to grow and learn from his mistake.

  38. maleekmonroe says – reply to this

her being in contact in her personal life is one thing collaborating with him is absolutly pathetic on her part. he is a terrible person who beat on her. i believe in forginess but collaborating sends terrible messages for her fans.

  39. 39

Why does anything involving a black celebrity have to turn into a race issue? I am black, and I am absolutely disgusted by the way Chris brown acted and continues to act, and I think Rihanna is pathetic and talentless. People don't get raised up about this because they are white. They get raised up about it because it is WRONG. And quite frankly it really is casting a bad light on the African American race. Im embarrassed to be a member of a race that is so quick to put woman abuse under the shelf and call it a mistake. Its not a mistake. And if any of you had any brains or paid any attention to what's going on you would see quite clearly that Chris brown has learned nothing from this. He acts like a spoiled teenager, and treats the situation as if he can't believe people hold it against him. We are allowing our race to be type- cast by enabling these kinds of sorry ass individuals. I for one would rather strive for greater things, rather than classify a woman beating as just a norm part of urban culture. That is just fucking sad.

I think its wonderful she's decided to be her own person. Unfortunately for her it appears Jay-Z and Co. have already decided on a replacement/Singerbot-clone that can sing. Best Wishes Ri-you were fun!

Re: hoochpit – Wow you're an asshole. What does being a dumb black bitch in the ghetto have to do with anything? You're a racist and just as bad as Chris

  43. 43

    Re: WakeUp2TheTruth – Well said.
    Re: KikikiwiRe: funnygerl – Agreed.
Re: misty89 – He is not a violent person? You are either lying to yourself and us, or you are in denial. Either way, this is an irrational statement.
Re: just so you know – I'm sad to hear your story, and I'm also sad to see that you would keep someone in your life who abused you. It speaks volumes of your sense of self-worth. Good luck.
Re: damedelamour – I'm very impressed by you as I know the psychology behind it, thus I know how incredibly difficult it is to get out of any kind of abusive relationship. I don't know if you tell yourself this enough, but you are a very strong individual and you should be proud of yourself. Most people cannot break the pattern, it has very little to do with intelligence and more to do with resources. But you made it, and you're stronger and wiser than ever. Good on you.

Boy! R u people 4 real first of all none of u know Rihanna r Chris so how do u know anything about what happen between the them only two people really know what happen just like u and the person u r with know What u really do with them. No one is perfect r have a perfect relationship because if that was true r young people would have values and that's all of r faults . I wish u would leave these two young people alone and as MJ would say take a look in the mirror. As for he's female friend that girl is a bi and her partner is always with her so get a clue. I think white people r just mad because Chris won't tell he's side of the story and people of color all know how they love a good story about people of color disrespecting each other. I guess it makes them feel better about the dirty stuff they do to each other . Why don't u try and be postive for a change and stop hating on them but I guess u will say the same thing Rihanna said at the end of the day u r going to do u :-)
