To serve, to honor, and to… Racially Profile?

Film director, Tyler Perry, says he was a victim of racial profiling.

He claims two police officers pulled him over for making a illegal turn and then the Atlanta boys in blue proceeded to interrogate Perry.

Serious incidents like this should not be happening.

Let's get on this, people.

um, WTF?? HOW WAS THIS RACIAL PROFILING??!!

  2. 2

He's pulled over for making an illegal turn and that's racial profiling? Hmmm… interesting. What if he had been stopped for running a red light, or stopped for going the wrong way on a one way street? Racial profiling? Me thinks the rich & famous do not like to bear the indignity of being pulled over like the little people… it's darn demeaning for someone who is personally powerful & calls all the shots in their life- and in the lives of so many others. At least he didn't pull a Zsa Zsa & slap the cop's face. She got pulled over for driving with expired lisence tags, but she was probably really profiled because she's Hungarian.

  3. 3

It isn't racial profiling if he did something illegal. He is an idiot.

  4. 4

An eye witness to the situation (Malik Kadeem) said that Tyler's windows were so shaded that it was impossible to tell who was driving (male, female, black, white) when he was pulled over.

The witness went on to say that Tyler upset one of the officers when he didn't immediately roll down his window when asked to do so. Both officers (white) were becoming impatient with Tyler and then a third officer (black) recognized him. He took the 2 other officers to the rear of the car to discuss, then Tyler was let off with a warning.

So Tyler makes an illegal left turn, then won't roll down his window when the officers told him to, then was po'd that he wasn't recognized and then he was let go because he was a celebrity. And now he claims racial profiling?

Give me a break. Race had nothing to do with this. He's an indignant celebrity who thinks the rules don't apply to him and even when he's given a celebrity break, he still tries to play the racial card? I'm sure he'll be calling the Reverends pretty soon to begin a protest march.

Seriously? He was pulled over for an actual traffic violation, and I can guarantee they didn't know it was Tyler Perry because of the tinted windows and limo service. Really? This might as well be a hate crime to Tyler Perry! I'm white, and someone caleds the cops on me everyday because my dogs bark at people who walk outside my house. Keep in mind, the neighbor his older and has sat right outside my fence to see if my dogs bark. Of course they do….they're dogs and protective, as they should be. Two cops responded, one white and one black. The white cop was cool as hell, but the black cop pretty wanted to cuff me for city violations for agressive animals. Obviously, nothing came of it. But….can I claim racial profiling? I certainly felt discriminated against, but didn't claim anything, but I'm not a celebrity! You tell me, is this racial profiling? I think racial profiling has become an excuse in some cases.

Racial Profiling???? he was pulled over because he did an illegal turn! he is lucky that one of the cops recognized him and that he wasn't given a ticket. if it would have been a person who is not famous they would have been given a huge ticket. maybe he should try following the traffic rules so that next time he won't get pulled over.

    7

How is it profiling when he admits he made an ILLEGAL turn? He should have been pulled over and given a ticket. Maybe even a breathalyzer. The audacity of the cops for pulling a man over for doing something illegal! What is this world coming too?

hilton, are you fucking serious, your own comment " serious incidents like this shouldn't be happening " is so irresponsible of you. do you even pay attention to the facts in the story you are commenting on, or do you simply comment because it tickles your fancy? tyler perry made an illegal left turn. the cops pulled him over because he broke the law. fact. yet you state, serious incidents like this should not be happening? are you fucking stupid. so what you're saying is when someone breaks the law, the law should look the other way? so because tyler perry is black, you are assuming that his version of the story is correct and all cops racially profile? or worse, because he's in the movies, he must be in the right, and the people who risk their lives everyday on our behalf are the meat-headed fools who must have acted out of turn? what's wrong with you. dude, as unbelievable as it may seem, even to you, you have a forum, people read your stupid comments and you have a social responsibility to use some common sense or at least use the facts. free speech doesn't mean you don't have an obligation to at least try to work with the truth.

Re: NookiesWA – NookiesWA: "Or maybe you just wanted someone as cool and popular as me to show you attention? If thats what it is I'll give you my dick, but only if you ask me nicely."

You know that I am a gay man, right? Are you serious about your offer? Another thread says you re a gay man too. When will you follow through on your promise?? You are such a tease! I'll be following your comments lil' cutie!! (; I love the sassy aggressive guys. XOXOXO

Re: NookiesWA – What do you look like? Are you hot? How many men have you been with?

  11. 11

well racsim has certainly made his life a living hell. the white man has really kept him down. if he only lived in a country where he was free

  12. 12

Re: ZZZZ – I'm way too hot and hung for you.

  13. 13

WOW….. seriously. I am not sure who the bigger idiot is. Perez is a moron for even putting this non-story out there. The only "news" is that Tyler Perry is some dumb fuck television personality who is so stupid that he thought he could pull the race card out of his pimp hat. Yeah.. good timing on that one, TP… You have just helped make the case that those who play the race card are idiots not worthy of any defense.

i think he is just pissed that the cops didn't recognize him. i'm sorry tyler, i wouldn't recognize your black ass either. i think as a white person i should be pissed that they let this dumb ass off after he commited a traffic infraction that could hurt people. would they have let me off?? the cops should be investigating why he got off instead of his "claim" of racial profiling. i would bet that the black cop pulled them aside because he knew this asshole would claim this and was trying to save them the trouble of having to deal with this jackass.

  15. 15

This is ridiculous. First of all, he made an illegal turn, which means the police officers were doing their jobs by pulling him over. BUT… then he was let go without charges after a black police officer came over to explain to the white officers who he was. I don't get it… he should have been ticketed regardless!

  16. 16

And the rest of the story is ?????
This delusional old queen, made an illegal turn, when the police ask WHY ????
Tyler said because she was being followed, followed by who they ask, and the delusional queen just kept repeating I'M being followed,
I'M sure the two white cops thought, Oh another Old Black Queen on Crack

It was not racial profiling, this is Atlanta

  17. 17

Another idiot pulling the race card..just to make excuses for thier actions..if you don't want so much racism to exist, stop pulling the race card and makeing everything about race. Stupid.

  18. 18

hate when people use the racial card to get away with something. dude, you made an illegal turn, and you have tinted windows - black, white, pink or green - there is no excuse. such a douchebag!

  19. 19

    Thank you President Obama
Remember when Obama was running for president 4 years ago
He kept talking about how he was a uniter, not a divider. he would bring people together
Well since he became president, there has been more racial divide, and hate, than we have seen in over 50 years
He should be so ashamed, but he's not

Re: gary smith – Couldn't agree more, I guess Perez wants the cops from doing their job

  21. 21

50 years of affirmative action shows that blacks don't want things equal: they want special treatment.

  22. 22

First of all, he was NOT being racially profiled. You're just as bad as him by making it into something it wasn't. He made a DANGEROUS and illegal left turn from the right hand lane. He didn't roll down his window when the cops asked him too. No matter what color you are, if you don't obey the cops right away, they are going to stop being so nice. Then another cop came, recognized him and he didn't even get a ticket. How is that racial profiling. If it was me, I would for sure have received a ticket. Get over it!

  23. 23

Re: MR Pete – Wow! You seriously need to start reading books and get your facts straight. 50 years ago, Blacks were still lynched.

  24. 24

This is stupid. He made an illegal turn and was pulled over. Nothing racial about that. What I'm offended by is that because of his tantrum and accusations, he was able to get his way out of getting a ticket for his violation. People like Tyler Perry, Al Sharpon, Jesse Jackson, and most everyone talking about Trayvon need to stop, because THEY are the ones creating and inflaming racial division in this country. They should be ashamed.
And Perez, you are part of the problem with your irresponsible comments and jumping on this race-baiting bandwagon. Shame.

How bout we stop racial profiling when all the nigg@$ stop acting the same lol. There's no need to be ghetto and loud all the time, and for god sakes tip your waiters. Black people wonder why they get bad service in restaurants IT'S BECAUSE WE KNOW YOUR NOT GOING TO TIP!!! Racial profile that Tyler Perry!

  26. 26

Re: NookiesWA – There you go again spewing your crap!! Again, you make us white people look bad. You're an embarrassment. Why can't you state your position without using racist terms? And you seem to think other groups are beneath you, and you can't even spell correctly..
And Tyler: this was NOT racial profiling. You are doing damage to your own people when you even think things like this…

  27. 27

Re: Chad – Well, when I used to be a server I got great tips from blacks. Maybe it's because I treat all people with respect and they appreciate it!! Wow… you have a great vocabulary.. hahaha!

  28. 28

The Atlanta Newspapers said he was driving a car with tinted windows, and they had to get him to roll down the window. How can it be racial profiling, if they couldn't see who was inside the tinted window car until he opened the windows? It makes no sense……………………racial profiling has gone too far, mainly for publicity purposes.

  29. 29

Re: cap chick – Are you dumb? I did not misspell a single word. Wait, you're probably black so you think correctly spelled words aren't because I'm not using ghetto speak.

  30. 30

Re: NookiesWA – it's "tinted" not "tented" . I don't have to lie about what color I am…I am proud that I'm a white person that treats all individuals the same.. If they are hard working people with character and show respect for others doesn't matter what color they are.

NookiesWA–Have you ever had sex with a black man? Or do you prefer other types of men? I think black men are hot.

Re: cap chick – Don't worry about NookiesWA. He is a very sexually frustrated gay man. I am a gay man so I can tell these things. He probably likes the black men, so he is putting his sexual energy into commenting about them. Anyway, pretty much all of his weird comments are a form of his frustration as a gay man.

He promised he would hook up with me but now he is being shy!!

  33. 33

    Re: Meggie246524 – Agreed.
Re: NookiesWA – What he really should've been doing, was getting drunk, getting arrested and singing the entire Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen in the backseat of the police car. Because that's what a decent, white American male would've done. Oh, and I'm glad that even though you hate homosexuals, you are still able to enjoy their music - and blogs.

This is the problem with alot of these articles. I have read several articles to get the full story and the police was very aggressive. I just love how everyone is ready to bash tyler, although he did perform an illegal uturn. Read other articles to find out what happen vs spouting racist remarks.
fyi- i have been pulled over and number one thing that piss me off is - Is this your car, no its your moms -bitch

Re: NookiesWA – Sad that the depth of your intelligence that you have to come off with the "nig" thing. It does not seem like racial profilling to me either, it seems like wealth priviledge thing. Try being more socialable to everyone and lose the "monkey, nig" mentallity it does not attract reasonable solutions to real issues in this Amerika we live in. It's time to to come bace to the "human race" be a part of America, no body's afraid of that indifference talk. Man or Women Up and help everyone move foward together we are not going away :-) BTW the correct spelling would be "tinted" not "tented" maybe you should read a real book and grow up.

    Thanks for the opportunity

Re: MR Pete – Mr. Pete not disrespect it seems that in order to unite it requires all sides (races) to agree to come together with the intent of uniting. That doesn't take away from being able to not agree with everything one side wants it dosen't take away from your or our freedom to follow our beliefs provided that those beliefs are contradictory to uniting and more in tune with self adopted "inherent priviledge" that you are better that someone else. Check out your Congress and the concept of irrational conservatism (there that "ism" again) would you rather have things as they were or evolve into hoe great things could be. U.S. President Obama has constanly work to united this divided country and move ahead. Take your time and really listen closely you will be able to identify the real separatise and the true dividers. That is if you care to openb up your mind and eyes. Check it out for yourself this is the 21st century and we should be much closer than we are towards uniting as a country.

Re: Nikkicat85 – Whar deck is that "race card" in I'm old enough to remember when therre was no "race card" to pull up. This is just another term the majority race creates and use in a negative concept. I will say from what I read concerning Mr. Perry there was no "racial profiling" I was not present. He should have been pulled over for making an illegal turn, focusing on "illegal turn" even if its a common practice that often is ignoredby patrol officers. If they decide to make a stop on ocassion as a deterrant thats there decision, I witness people making u-turns at no u-turns signs quite often. However, the racial element could have come in the conversation that was exchanged between the officers and Mr. Perry, they (the officers) are not always professional to everyone in simple traffic violations some are overly aggresive unnecessarily I'm not saying this was the case because again I/we were not there to witness it for ourselves. I don't think there should be a priviledge (because of who I am or who I know) rule for those high profile citizens of any race that everyone else can't catch a brake on accasion
