The Girls Aloud star and ex UK X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is FINALLY cutting ties!
Cheryl, who’d been using the surname since her divorce from Ashley Cole back in 2010, is getting rid of it…for stage name's sake!
But don’t think she’ll just be tacking on her maiden name, Tweedy, instead! Just Cheryl explains:
“If I went back to being Cheryl Tweedy I'd be … I'm not ashamed of my marriage, it's a period in my life. And I am Cheryl Cole. That's how I feel.”
Now, Cheryl wants to be known as, well, just Cheryl!!
A source reveals:
”Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn't want to be associated with negative stuff from the past. She's not removing Cole legally, it's just a career statement. She's in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls.”
And take it by the balls, she shall!
The source goes on to say:
”She can't wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice.”
We think it’s a pretty HUGE statement to refer to yourself as just one singular name like superstars including Madonna, Cher and Beyonce have done, but we’re sure Cheryl can pull it off!
Now we know which name to call when her new single Call My Name drops April 20! Ha!
