Even Katie Couric Can't Convince Viewers To Stray From NBC's Today Show

Katie Couric powerless

Sarah Palin managed to bring in better ratings for NBC's Today last Tuesday than Katie Couric did for ABC's Good Morning America. However, it looks like people just want to watch NBC's morning show over ABC's no matter what.

By the end of Couric's week long guest hosting gig on GMA, the broadcast only attracted more viewers on Wednesday, while Today won the remaining four days.

NBC's popular morning show increased its viewership by 11% with 5.11 million viewers last week, while ABC only got a 1% boost with 4.90 million people.

The only day Good Morning America prevailed is when Ryan Seacrest appeared on Today to announce that he'll be hosting the London Olympics for the network. Maybe people already see enough of him on every other channel on TV?

What factor do U think gives Today the edge over Good Morning America?

Most people are not going to change their morning show. Even if they would have for the stunt casting for one week that does not mean anything for the long term ratings. So who really gives a shit.

Let this be a lesson to ABC. Couric does not produce ratings. (Her CBS Evening News anchor job was dead last). So please, ABC, do not give this woman that afternoon talk show that would displace or cancel General Hospital. We don't need Couric and we certainly do not need another talk show.
