Hunger Games falls in foreign box office

The United States still can't get enough of Jennifer Lawrence and The Hunger Games, but the rest of the world is just about over it.

Lionsgate's novel adaptation managed to cling to the box office's number one spot for a third week in a row in the states, but it was beaten by Wrath Of The Titans and Titanic 3D overseas while collecting $25.5 million.

Considering that helped the film's total gross move up to $459.9 million, that still ain't too bad if you ask us.

American Reunion and Titanic 3D couldn't throw The Hunger Games off of its American throne this weekend, but do U think The Three Stooges will next weekend?

The book was OK. I didn't like the way the casting directors whitewashed the 2 leading characters Katniss &Gale. In the novel they were olive-skinned and black-haired. They were NOT Casucasian. This could've been a GOLDEN opportunity for actors of Latin, Native Indian or Asian descent. But once again, Hollywood had to ruin it. The only thing worse than the casting of this movie is Angelina Jolie stealing a black woman's role in a Mighty Heart. The Last Airbender was another case in point. Hollywood always has to whitewash everything.

Olive skin and black hair suggests Mediterranian colouring and features. Caucasian is actually a very loose term and encompases a pretty wide range of skintones including those found in the Mediterranian. I don't think many people reading would have assumed the character of Katniss to be Latin, Asian or Native Indian as none of the groups are typically olive skinned.
