On Sunday a British three year old toddler, hunting for easter eggs, found a live grenade!
The child was standing atop of the dangerous explosive before one of the parents realized what it wasn't an easter egg and called the police who then called the bomb squad.
Stuart Moffatt, who was with his wife and three children, saw a child standing over the WW2 era grenade. Moffatt rushed the 25-30 kids away from the grenade and away from the danger.
"We were beginning to count up the eggs at the end of the hunt and I saw a boy of three standing on an object. It was brown and about 4 inches high. It looked like an Easter egg, but it was a hand grenade — I was shocked. The boy who was standing on it thought it was a rock."
The bomb squad arrived promptly, secured the area, and safely detonated the bomb.
What a strange sequence of events. We're glad no one was hurt.
Easter is a time for family and fun, not bombs and explosions! Ah!
