    HELLLOOOOO- PUBLICITY STUNT!!! She gets married to a fake husband in India, dies her hair blue for the entire campaign and now is photographed there with a famous person she doesn't know for this story. We all know your a money grubber Katy but stop whoring yourself out.. it's embarrasing to watch.

    What a horrible place she is trying to romanticize. India would be a horrid place to grow up female in. So misleading to think of this place as enlightening.

    Yeah, and while she was there, "everyone" couldn't wait until she, her husband, her hair, and her entourage left!
    (And maybe it's just my age showing, but she talks like a 15 year old.)

    I wonder how Katy feels about widows and divorcees in India who are traditionally shunned from society, and not allowed to remarry? (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

    But of course, her visit will ultimately have NOTHING to do with learning anything.
    Probably just wants to wear a sari and eat curry while her excited little fans scream her name and take her picture.
    (After all, she's already ridden the elephant. What else is there, right?)

    Um…it gave the world Hinduism and buddhism….which I'd you think about if are far more rational then the cult of Jesus freaks. Christianity is a virus worse than cancer and India is thankfully free from its clutches. For that reason alone I'd go and live there. But then what would you understand…..you probably don't even have a passport.

    I worked for a man who brought his family to Canada from India two decades ago, and we had many fascinating conversations about the differences in religion, culture and traditions. There are many facets of Hinduism & Buddhism I find highly spiritual and agreeable, but some traditions regarding women leave me a little cold. Would you care to comment?
    BTW, I agree with your statements 100% regarding Christianity. To use the word "virus" is apt! When I consider how various religions "treat" women, Christianity is one of the worst. We may be able to "vote," or "walk in the street with shorts on," etc., but we are brainwashed into believing we are beneath man, and in order to be "saved," must submit to Man's directives. Our "Deity" is a man, our "Saviour" is a man, and the "Head of the Household" is a man. We are given a "Father In Heaven" and a "Son Who Saved Us", but we are Motherless. As a result, we are given few choices of roles to strive for, other than that of "Perfect Mother" or "Vile Whore."
    We are suffering mentally, emotionally & spiritually each generation as a result, and it’s getting worse. Especially considering that "Jesus' Second Coming!" has essentially come… and gone. With no great result.
    It is causing many Christian men in power, (and some mentally ignorant women) to go to extremes, as we are seeing currently in both US politics and world issues.
    Thoughts?

    May be the whole treatment of women was an outcome of colonisation..who knows? Traditionally in India, we worship women, we have so many Goddesses to pray, there' s the Goddess of wealth, education etc. The point I am trying to make is, culturally we revere women. I grew up in India and i dont think it is a horrible place to grow up in.. i take offence at your generalisation. We are developing country struggling with a huge population, but i wouldnt tolerate generalisations about my country

    This woman proves one more time that her marriage didn't mean anything to her! How can u visit the country u got engaged & got married…and look so relaxed and happy? The divorce was ONLY 3 months ago…she didn't visit that country 2 years after the divorce! How can they do it? I've heard many times that celebs become HEARTLESS and think only about themselves, because of the fame they get, but I didnt want to believe this about Katy…

    3 MONTHS AGO SHE GOT DIVORCED AND NOW SHE'S BACK TO THE COUNTRY SHE GOT MARRIED….AND SHE SEEMS SOOOOO HAPPY AND ENJOYING THIS TRIP! CELEBRITIES! WHAT DO U EXPECT? TO SIT DOWN AND MOURN ABOUT THEIR LOST LOVE? NOOOOOO. THEY ONLY LOVE THEMSELVES AND THEIR MONEY. #TEAMRUSSELL. AT LEAST RUSSELL SHOWED A TRUE DIGNITY AFTER THE DIVORCE!

    1. indians were so excited for her that they ONLY LET HER PERFORM A SINGLE SONG and her entire visit was overshadowed by the actresses/actrors INDIANS worship and put on a pedistal.
    2. PLASTIC CHOPRA here the so called actress, the wannabe, the arsekisser, the lying insecure sult and INDIAS PRIDE AND JOY - is the one who got perry to come to india only so pc can make a few connections and show off her american accent that is 'genuine' that she developed by attending a year of highschool in the us when she was 16. This woman hasn't even gone to college.

    Wow..people have so much to say about her visit to India. Didn't realize an entertainment article could stir up so much debate. It was a pretty generic thing to say she wanted to see the place and the culture people say it about traveling anywhere. And so what if she got married in India, is she never supposed to visit again? Really people..who cares!

    I'll respond to your statement about religion being brought in. :)
    I caught Rishi's comment, and found a thought I wanted to expand on, is all. I am fascinated with different religions and cultures. Sometimes I get drawn into believing stereotypes and don't realize it until I bring up the subject with others, thereby gaining a different perspective.
    I suppose it hasn't much to do with Perry herself, although I would like to know how much of her ceremony with Russell was influenced by Hinduism.

    Hi, thanks for writing what you did.
    In talking with my old boss, (see above) I learned a bit about some of the different gods and goddesses… I read some beautiful stories, and found I could resonate with them in more ways than I had expected.
    He had interesting perspectives as well on how women were treated. He was the one who told me about widows and divorcees being shunned, (or not allowed to remarry) but even though I found that distasteful, his personal treatment of his wife and family (two sons) was above reproach. They were very happy together.
    (And like me, he also had some strong feelings about Christianity!)
    …
    P.S. I hope to visit the country myself someday. I'd like to learn more about it before I do, but I can honestly say that spiritually I'd be more at home there, as uneducated as I am. I've grown weary of the patriarchal DELUGE of Christianity here in North America.

    I hear your emotions and I can see your point, but I just want to point out that there are those in North America who feel the same way about the Trumps.
    And there are plenty of other "rich families" here, (some in crime, some not) who tend to control which "family" lives where, and with how much cash as well. There are MANY North American shit holes you can live in if you only have the $$$ and the connections!
    (And if you don't, you're on the street. As in, shot dead on the street. Have you seen pics of Detroit lately? It's a damned shame.)
    Anyway, perhaps there is a greater difference, and/or ratio between the wealthy and the poor in India than in the United States, (?) but hell, never fear, the US will get there in another generation or two if it continues on the same path.
    …
    P.S. I still don't like Katy Perry though. She strikes me as an immature girl who relies more on her appearance and hype than her intelligence.

    Unless you've been to India, don't bad-mouth it. Unless you're a Christian, don't bad-mouth it. Unless you're Hindu, don't bad-mouth it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, yes, but no one's going to take you seriously if you use that freedom to insult everyone else. You're more than welcome to hate Christianity, India or Hinduism…but tell me why you prefer what you believe/or dont believe it. It just seems like it would be a little more effective than being so snark. juuuust sayin :)

Obviously she was unhappy with her physical attributes hence the almost full fledged face transplant–nose JOBs, (a botched one now) lip fillers, cheek fillers, skin lightening, contacts, random wigs. etc.

    Hi Rishi, I live in Mumbai, I'm a Catholic and I'm truly offended by your comment.
    No offence to my Hindu friends, but most of them will agree when I say Hinduism is irrational at most times. They celebrate a festival every month, have grand processions on streets and roads, lots of noise, pollution and traffic jams, a lot of men get drunk and then eve-tease women. I've experienced all of these first hand..
    Religion was as wonderful thing that got ruined by man. Each perceives and understands what they want to out of religion, and most things get misinterpreted.
    What I love however is how tolerable MOST people are. My Hindu (best)friend came to church with me a number of times, and I have gone for pujas (prayers) with her family and participated in her festive activities too.
