Guns N’ Roses Rock And Roll Without Axl Rose

| Filed under: Music MinuteAwardzParty Poppin'

Axl who?

The original lineup of Guns N’ Roses, sans Axl Rose, put on a hell of a show for their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this past Saturday.

Rose had recently published a now infamous letter where — long story short — he rejected his invitation to play the concert with his old band.

Despite enormous pressure, Slash and Co. not only played, but ROCKED the concert. The crowd was enamored and went from jeering Axl Rose's name to cheering for his replacement, Myles Kennedy, who absolutely killed it!

Ch-ch-check out their AWESOME performance of Sweet Child O' Mine (above)!

Axl is such the bitter FOOL and Slash is the eternal, talented, grateful, humble gentleman! And Myles is MUCH better than Axl, ftr…

Axl is ridiculous to not show up, and Myles can hit those high notes that Axl can longer hit, but he has no stage presence. The whole reason to go to a show is to see a show, and listen to music, and all he did was sing the song and hang out by the drum kit. boring. At the very least Axl is mysterious and unpredictable, but never boring.

Myles did a great job. I loves me some Duff though. XD

I think I actually prefer Myles, even if it would've been cool to see the full original band. They're all better off without Axl's enormous ego.

Myles did exactly what he should have. He was there to sing for the band's induction not to draw attention to himself, he's not a member. It would have been incredibly disrespectful to create a spectacle of himself during THEIR moment. This wasn't just some random concert, it was the other band members' time to be honored in the spotlight. He let his own talent shine through while staying true to the original song, and without taking anything away from any of the other members. I thought it was perfect.

Excuse me, since when did rock n' roll become all about doing what you're told when you're told you have to do it?

I could've sworn rock n' roll was about doing what you believe in and not taking s*** from anybody, which is what Axl Rose has done here.

Meanwhile, John Frusciante declined to attend RHCP's induction with the excuse "I'm just not comfortable/I'm focused on doing my thing" and nobody says a word.

Axl = rock n' roll whether you like him or not. Some respect is in order here!

PS - Anyone who says Axl can't sing anymore is a willfully ignorant fool. He sounds better at 50 than he did at 25. Anyone who has been to one of his [three hour] shows the last couple of years can vouch to this fact.

It seems the rock music world has forgotten what rock n' roll is supposed to be about and it also appears rock music fans have a misguided and false sense of entitlement over this.

Re: Jeff – LOL 3 hour shows ? I'm sure you are taking into consideration the 2 hours and 40 minutes that they didn't go on stage. Axl Rose is a fool, and he doesn't sound nearly as good as he did back in the 80's and even mid 90's..

I love Axl, but he is being a stubborn ass. Jeff- I saw him this past summer in Dallas. He put on a good show, but in no way, shape or form was it near the talent of the original Guns n Roses line-up. He has talented musicians now, but its not the same. The fact that he didn't show up just shows how egotistical and petty he is!! Was that Gilby Clarke instead of Izzy Stradlin? I couldn't tell because there weren't any close-ups.

    Good! Fuck Axel Rose…!!!
