While live on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning, the sultry Ian Somerhalder revealed that he's very, very, VERY interested in making the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey film.

I have yet to read the book, but a friend of mine has and is telling me about it and I think Ian would be a good choice. Maybe Lucy Hale could be his leading lady? She looks much younger and naive.
I read this story when it was still on fanfiction.net (as "Master of the Universe") and always had a difficult time picturing Robert Pattinson (or Edward Cullen) as the male lead. Reading the book again now, I actually went with Ian as Christian in my head (talk about timely article!) and think he would be perfect!
Re: meister – Not to mention that this will be his first role as a leading man in a major motion picture so he can't really go in requesting top dollar. And since this is a book that was based on a Twilight fanfic, I am sure they want some of the same box office success. Half of the reason Twilight was called a phenomenon was because the first one was low budget and the actors were lesser known. Ian is already more famous than Rob and Kristen were when they first started off so they definitely don't need to go any bigger with the names. This book apparently started off with a small cult following and that is half the charm so to have a huge star like Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum play Christian Grey would kill some of the magic.

I read this as fanfic in its original form too. It cannot be someone with a babyface. Ian Somerhalder would be good in the role I think. Henry Cavill is too old. So is Michael Fassbender. My first pick though is James Deen, unknown enough to mainstream, well known in porn - huge female following. Women would be coming out in droves not just for the movie but for him! They should at least make him a consultant.

If you've read the books then you would know that this is not going to be an easy role to fill. With that being said I think Paul Walker would be the perfect Christian Grey. And hello universal and focus films, if you want this movie to be taken seriously, then you'd be smart to stay away from the teeny bopper actors and have any link to vampires werewolves and the like. Not trying to bea Baer on Ian but the role of grey needs to be carried thru 3movies. And I think all the haters, I mean critics are just waiting to pounce once casting is made.
