Sinéad O'Connor Cancels Tour Due To Bi-Polar Breakdown

| Filed under: Music MinuteSad Sad

Sinead Oconnor Tour Cancelled

Looks like singer Sinéad O'Connor won’t be heading back on tour next month, after all.

Back in January, the Irish singer was admitted to the hospital for depression after splitting from her husband and has been having a pretty tough time these past few months.

O’Connor announced her ENTIRE 2012 tour’s cancellation on her website, writing:

"With enormous regret I must announce that I have to cancel all touring for the year as am very unwell due to bi polar disorder. As you all know I had a very serious breakdown between December and March and I had been advised by my doctor not to go on tour but didn't want to 'fail' or let anyone down as the tour was already booked to coincide with album release. So very stupidly I ignored his advice to my great detriment, attempting to be stronger than I actually am. I apologise sincerely for any difficulties this may cause."

So sad to hear!!!

Gurl, you’ve got to take care of yourself, first!

We’re sure her fans will remain by her side during this tough time and hope they understand!

We hope she gets well soon and puts herself AND her health as her top priority!

What a shame. She is one of my all time favorite artists. A real artist who always stayed true to herself. Not manufactured crap like Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Sad. But she seems to be very self-aware so good for her. Love love love her song "Troy", which likely came from a depressed state. But damn it's good.

This is so sad. It's time to concentrate on your condition and not the dollars expected of you.
There are three ingredients to being famous. Talent, self-belief & self worth. You had your place in the sun, time to get yourself better. You have kids. They come first. Get better. Is it really all about you.

I was fortunate enough to see her gig in cologne last week, and it was so so beautiful and uplifting. Sinead seemed to be in good spirits, and had fun on stage.
I was wondering, how she could handle the touring after this breakdown in december.
I´m glad to hear, that she´s putting her health first now, and wish her a speedy stabilisation, as there isn´t a "healing" from bi-polar disorder.
    Shes´s such a beautiful soul!
