Smash Is Getting A Gossip Girl Transplant In The Form Of Josh Safran!!!

| Filed under: TV NewsGossip Girl

gossip girl josh safran moving to smash

Our beloved Josh Safran is reportedly replacing Smash co-creator Theresa Rebeck as the series showrunner!!!

The Gossip Girl king has had PLENTY of experience making the Upper East Side soap the success it is today, so we know everyone with a Smash paycheck must be feelin' HIGH right now!!

But what does this mean for GG?? Smash has already been picked up for a second season, but no word on whether GG will return for a sixth one yet.

…but who are we kidding?? If GG isn't renewed, then hell will freeze over… because we'll make it freeze over, LOL!!

    um perez, you idiot…

Safran ruined GG once he was made EP in S3. Season 1 and 2 were amazing and he has ruined the show and made it the joke it is now in S5. It is the worst show ever now and it's because of him. So good riddance. I cannot believe anyone actually hired this madman, but at least GG is rid of him.

GG should have been nothing more than a typical CW teen/tween soap, with vapid characters, obvious/dumb-downed plot-lines and if you remember the first 4 or 5 eps of season one, that's all it was. Safran is a BIG part of why the show has even gotten to a fifth season. Like most shows that start with its ensemble cast in high school, there's only so many break-up's, make-up's, partner swapping that can happen. THAT is what's happened to GG…it's run its course. SMASH on the other hand, started with a STRONG pilot and concept, but almost instantly declined into an unfortunate mess. It's broken the cardinal rules of musical theater. Not EVERY character should sing, and the ones that should/do need to have a REASON to. They sing when they're feeling something SO strongly, that there's nothing else to do BUT sing. Not because they're at a karaoke bachelorette party. SMASH now has the chance to be what it was supposed to be, something new, exciting and smart. Safran is the only person who can fix it…and i for one, CANNOT WAIT to watch it happen! Perez, you're ON POINT with this one ;)
