Kat Graham QOTD Drag

“Listen, honey, I learned everything I know from a drag queen. I think I’m a drag queen and if somebody says I look like one, you don’t understand that you’re giving me a compliment because that’s where I live, that’s where my music flourishes and grows. My ideas grow from the gay community. That’s where I live mentally. My best audience and where I’m happiest is in the gay community. That’s where I feel the most accepted. It’s a community that appreciates pop culture like no other. For me, that’s where I’m home and I always want to come home.”

- Kat Graham tells The Advocate

Seems so fake and contrived… yuck

  2. 2

Fake sentiment. We all know that to be successful, you need to get the gays on your side so this is fake pandering to them. Countdown to her announcing she's bisexual. 5…4…3..2….

  3. 3

Agree with the first 2 comments!

oh. barf. this chick is lame.

Agree with the above comments. People claim Madonna and Gaga used the gay community for fame, but it never felt this contrived. Perez, trying putting her on your blog every other entry instead of every third. Then, maybe, we'll but it.

Perez coached me in what to say to those ghastly homos at that magazine he calls the Ph&g Rag!!
Perez explained : If you don't say all this BS, they'll have no tie-in and won't be interested in your story at all!!!

lame. so sick of hearing about this girl.

  9. 9

What are those presh drag queen life lessons? If you skip your forehead your foundation will last longer?

  10. 10

She's like a dog whistle that only gays can hear.

  11. 11

Is she even in Billboard top 200 ??????

  12. 12

Oh my goodness, Perez…stop posting about this z-list entertainer. She's not that famous and your posts about her are so lame. And yes, her quote to the Advocate sounds fake and like she's totally trying to win the love of the gays just so she'll remain semi relevant. And to say she looks like a drag queen isn't very nice to the drag queens. At least they try harder to look female.

  13. 13

REALLY BORING you and your dieefication of the pig. Also, dipshit,,, drag is NOT necessarily gay. It's all about your BS agenda.

    BULLSHIT SUCK UP

  16. 16

When everything fails, just aim for the gays, most of them have no good taste at all.

I read the entire interview by following the link to the advocate, and when you take this one statement out of context it does sound tailored. However, take into account that Perez has met Kat Graham and knows her. I'm pretty sure he can judge her character and worth to be on his website!

To be as forward as to openly identify yourself with drag queens and gays can be as hurtful as it is helpful to your career. Aside from the folks who are against gays, there are many more who are fine with gays but anti-drag. I think if anything this shows that she's being herself.

I think with as open as she is that she could be bisexual, I'd love to meet her and find out for sure! However, coming out as bisexual for the sake of publicity can be bad too. As a bisexual young woman myself there are a lot of negative stereotypes specific to bisexual women and many bisexuals do not get support from the gay community. We're seen as on the fence, and she could isolate herself if she did come out.
