Fifty Shades Of Grey Dethrones The Hunger Games As Bestseller!!!

No way!

We never thought it would happen… but it just did!

Fifty Shades Of Grey has grabbed the #1 slot on USA Today's Bestseller list, knocking The Hunger Games off its pedestal.

The Hunger Games was knocked all the way down to number five after sitting on top for sixteen weeks!

The list is absolutely dominated by the two series:

1. Fifty Shades Of Grey
2. Catching Fire
3. Fifty Shades Darker
4. Mockingjay
5. The Hunger Games
6. Fifty Shades Freed

We know the whole Fifty Shades series is huge right now but wow!

How long do U think Fifty Shades Of Grey can hold out??

It's complete and utter trash. Flip to a random page and read it first before buying it. Chances are you'll land on a page where she goes on about her "inner goddess moaning in ecstasy" while he puts metal genital clamps on her. Hell, read the very first paragraph of the first book and see for yourself what kind of trite writing this is. "Oh I'm so mad my coworker is sick. I don't know if I should go to sleep with my hair wet or dry or if I should just keep it in a ponytail. Or not in a ponytail. Oh no, the choices!" If granny porn is your kind of thing, no one is stopping you. But this shit is embarrassing.

I only know the above examples because I work in a bookstore and every other customer is a panting old woman who asks shrilly "OH MY GOD WHERE IS IT?!!" and I got bored and curious one day, so I flipped to a random page and died a few times inside.

Thank you to all the tweeny dipshits out there (and the desperate 40-year old single ladies) who keep buying this drivel. I mean, why buy books that are actually written well?

I'm not happy with this trend only because it's famous for formerly being a Twilight fanfic. What the hell??

  7. 7

it's a trilogy of smut. Not even well written smut. Actually very very badly written smut.
I bought the trilogy because of the Internet buzz and I was really disappointed. Especially about the third book. There were so many mistakes like sentences beginning with (") but missing the sign at the end, so its very confusing to read because you don't really know when the main character is thinking and when she is speaking… and don't even let me get started about the storyline (or lack there of).
Don't get me wrong. I actually like reading a good smut story once in a while, but don't waste your money people!! There are way better stories online for free than this overpriced piece of garbage.

Did you really thing that the Hunger Games could beat Twilight? Oh you did? How cute are you? Because, let's face it, that's what the Fifty Shades of Grey is…Twilight fanfic. You Hunger Games fans are so silly!

As an aspiring writer, this REALLY bugs me. When/if I get my current novel published, I'm going to have to promote it and get my own readers and fans and hope that a buzz builds from there…I won't be piggy backing off another series readers. And that's how Shades of Grey became so big, not because of the stories own merit. It just really bugs. Especially seeing it beat an original story that is very well written. I'm all for fanfic, and write some, but when it comes to publishing, come up with your own stuff.

Can't believe a fanfic that used Twilight characters is now gonna be as big AS Twilight. So.Freaking.Weird. Never read the 'published' book but MOTU was good.

I think this will be short lived. I along with a lot of my friends have NO interest in reading this book. I'm going to take "@mouse" suggestion and read a few pages to get a sense of the book. But, I doubt I will buy it and read it.

Everyone knows porn sells. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who really loves literature that thinks Fifty Shades is a good book. It’s just pornography. Let's not get the two things mixed up.

I read the hunger games a while ago, the first book was amazing, however, the second slowly slips into a self-centred katniss fest, and its a slippery downward spiral from there on, the last book was a pile of crap.
the Fifty Shades series, of which I'm currently obsessed with, has maintained brilliance and consistently interests me - it's an awesome book! No wonder it's topping suzanne collins!!
