Julie Plec, the executive producer of the Vampire Diaries, has been picked to write the movie adaptation for the New York Times best-selling book The Tiger's Curse.
It's kinda cool because her personal rise in Hollywood is just as compelling as the books story and how it became a worldwide hit!
Plec started out as Wes Craven's assistant before becoming Kevin Williamson's during the Scream years, then climbed the ranks to land an associate producer credit on the sequel. After working with Williamson on Dawson's Creek, she eventually wrote several episode of Kyle XY before running the show on the set of Vampire Diaries.
We LOVE that determination and are so happy it paid off for her because now she's writing her first feature film!
Colleen Houck, the author The Tiger's Curse, is a self-starter too! She originally published the epic young adult adventure, about an Indian prince who is trapped in a tiger's body, online. After getting noticed, it was published as the first book in a five part series and has now been translated into 15 different languages!
It's almost like these two ladies were destined to work together before they even started their career!
Congrats to both of them for their success and we can't wait to see the movie!
