Adam McKay Directing Will Ferrell Smith And Denzel Washington In Comedy Remake

Adam McKay is about to step out of his comfort zone and direct a movie that DOESN'T star Will Ferrell!

The man behind hits like Anchorman and The Other Guys is in negotiations to direct the remake of Uptown Saturday Night, a 1974 comedy that starred Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier.

If all goes according to plan for Warner Bros, the studio hopes to tap Will Smith and Denzel Washington as two friends who go to a night club and get into trouble when one of their wallets containing a winning lottery ticket is stolen.

The original film had a star-studded supporting cast, so maybe McKay will find a way to squeeze some of his regulars like Ferrell in anyway. We definitely wouldn't be surprised to see a few familiar faces that he has worked with in the past make an appearance.

And don't worry about Anchorman 2. That is the filmmaker's first priority and Uptown is scheduled to begin shooting in 2013, after he completes the long-awaited comedy sequel.

SO tired of remakes, with all the writers and would-be writers in Hollywood, why cannot one or two of them come up with an original plot and storyline?
