Jay-Z's Ode To New York Closes YouTube "Brandcast"
It's all about broadening the brand and appealing to the masses, right!?
After debuting a slew of new channels at their 'brand cast' event in NYC Tuesday, YouTube - owned by Google - enlisted one of the most popular musical artists of our day (Jay-Z) to sing his hit song that features one of the most beloved cities in the world (New York).
Way to think outside the box guys!
The event pitched innovative YouTube-only channels such as WIGS, a network geared toward women featuring programs starring big names such as Julia Stiles and Jennifer Garner.
Watch Jay-Z close the event, performing Empire State of Mind (above).
For such a 'forward thinking' conceptual event, why did Google have Jay-Z perform? He's so 2000 and late!
HAH! Jk, we LOVE Jay, but we would have liked to see a fresher musical act to go along with the theme!

The reason JAY Z performed is because his digital magazine lifeandtimes.com is one of the channels rolling out on Youtube.
Well at least he wasn't lip synching but this guy is overrated. Him and Kanye marginal talents at best
WIGS' shiny new youtube page is up at in case people want to watch trailers (which, trust me, they will!)
