Courtney Love Confuses Profanity With Art
Slap some 'shocking' swear words on a wedding dress and you've instantly got yourself some art, right?
Courtney Love debuted her first ever 'art' collection - And She's Not Even Pretty - Wednesday night at the Fred Torres Gallery in NYC.
The exhibit consisted of pastel and pencil scribblings featuring Courtney Love/blonde women in various sexually vulnerable positions with random poems, song lyrics, and musings written throughout each piece.
A wedding dress defiled by the words "Not my c*nt on my dime mister," seemed to be the crown jewel of the collection.
Shock value is not the same thing as talent, dear Courtney!

what would you know Perez?? are you an artist ? no! modern art is all about pushing boundaries and trying new things. i have grown up around art. Courtneys is not new or even original but it is art and not just scribbles or profanity's. she surprised me because she is actually quite good.

Mario tryin to jump on some new coat tails. CaCa's attorney must have really put the smack down on Mario, Wifey has been in the news and not a peep about it here. Im starting to like her is she is distancing her self from Peerez. Sh sprayed degreaser on her coat tails and Mario slid right off.
Seems a bit too similar to Tracey Emin's neon pieces and monoprints..
Actually I think her Art is quite credible and am happy she is using her creativity doing something constructive rather than destructive. Best Wishes to her and hope she continues to apply herself into her music and art!

"Shock value is not the same thing as art…" - this coming from the man who licked Gaga's ass all that time til she put the restraining order on him. By the way anyone remember the shirts Perez used to make? He thought putting a pic of a dog on t-shirt was fashion…this man should never comment on art or fashion, ever. You give that right up when you dress the way Perez used to.
Perez I love you, but I have to speak my mind on this one. I am an art therapist and I work mainly with clients who have experienced trauma and addiction. It is absolutely unacceptable for you to judge Courtney's artwork on the basis of what you believe art is. This work clearly comes from a very painful place…and her need to display it, although it may partially be motivated by her celebrity, is a way of exposing that pain and sharing it with a larger audience…a catharsis.
You are a strong advocate against bullying, so please don't shame people for showing their art, it means a lot more than what you see on the surface.
I agree with Perez, it is GARBAGE and so is she.
As a gallery director here in NYC. I understand that art is subjective.
That said. The only reason a gallery would go to show Courtney Love's work is because they're only using her name to promote the gallery. If this "art" came from anyone non-famous, any gallery would turn it away thinking it was a joke.
The sad thing is that people will still pay for this stuff just because of her name.
Art is both immediate and subjective.
