Hunger Games Casting: Jesse Williams For Finnick??
Okay, we could see that!
It's time to cast the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, and fans of the books are OBSESSING over who is going to play Panem's seksist man alive: Finnick Odair.
OUR Odair pick is 90210 dreamboat Trevor Donovan — but he's not the only TV star up for the job!
Another very popular Finnick fan fave is Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams.
When asked how he felt about playing Finnick, the blue-eyed actor said:
"I have heard that! I've seen a lot of that on Twitter. I didn't know what the heck a Finnick was when I was getting a lot of the questions about it."
Srsly??
That's pretty disappointed to hear from a cast contender! (FYI: Donovan says he has read Catching Fire SEVEN times!)
ANYWAY, Jesse made up for his mistake by doing some research. He adds:
"I've since been educated, and that's fun. People are really, really excited about it. It certainly is a big, successful project, and I read the first book, which was great. In this day and age, I think it matters what the fans think and they envision certain things."

I thought Finnick was white, blond and early/mid-twenties too. Nothing wrong with changing things up, Jesse Williams is certainly good-looking enough to get across the idea of Finnick's beauty, but I do think that he perhaps looks too old. The whole point is how horrifying it is that Finnick won when he was so young and has led such a sad life since. Same with Trevor Donovan: he looks much more like how I imagine Finnick, but again he seems too old.
Jesse Williams is too old! Finnick would be in his early 20's. I just don't see it. In my head Finnick is tall, blonde and beautiful. Why on earth would people think of Jesse for Finnick? Did they not read the books? Come one people! Show some imagination!
Jesse sure is easy on the eyes…but the guy can't act. He definitely doesn't work for such a major role. He's really best kept as the pretty face that generally keeps his mouth shut and takes off his shirt a lot.
However, I'm not shocked he hasn't read the book, he's far beyond the target demo.

No Jessie would not be right for the role, though he is good looking and has the eyes. He doesn't have the right body built. To be honest Finnick is suppose to be white at least that is how the book read. I honestly think Kellan Lutz would be the perfect Finnick. Johanna should be a sexy med-to light skin black or Hispanic women in her 30's. Johanna is a person of color. I'm thinking Michele R or Zoe S. she needs to be a phyiscal strong women. Naya Rivera too young and I don't think she can pull of the strong women part.

The character Katniss is actually 16/17. Jennifer is playing a 16/17 year old, and can reasonably pass for one. The same cannot be said for Jesse, sorry. He does not look 23/24.

I'm sorry, but Finnick was described as having green eyes (Jesse), bronze hair (can be dyed), tanned skin (close enough, plus Jesse has bonus freckles), tall, muscular, and beautiful. He would also be 24 at the time of the 3rd Quarter Quell. No Finnick will be perfect, but physically Jesse is very close.

Funny you should say that because in the books, he's described as having bronze hair, tan skin, and sea-green eyes. Apart from the hair, Jesse fits the description, whereas your typical blond white boy wouldn't. Finnick has to look noticeably older than Katniss, too, and seeing as Jennifer looks older than her age (at 21), it would be fitting for a somewhat older actor to play Finnick. Jesse fits, yet again!
"Show some imagination"… really? Blond/blue eyes is the LEAST imaginative interpretation considering the history of Hollywood.

FYI In the books Finnick is dark skinned and bronze haired. AKA not white, not Trevor Donovan. As someone who looks like Trevor Donovan, I want to say that this racist bullsh*t from Hollywood has to stop. Blondes are less than 15 percent of people in this country, and whites are only abou 70. In the future, whites will be 50 percent. This book takes place in the future, therefore at least half of the people will not be white.
He is beautiful. I would love him in this role. Also, I think it is ridiculous that people are saying "I'm not racist…but". If you have to have a disclaimer, then you're racist. It's like saying "No offense…but". Excuse me, but offense taken.

Jesse for finnick 100%…it's fucking sad how people are picturing most of the characters white even after they've been described as dark skinned or tanned. Jesse is a great actor, has amazing eyes and would fit the character just as well as that Trevor guy. Stopped being so closed minded.
Personally I would absolutely LOVE Garrett Hedlund as Finnick ODair. He's definitely my ideal, he fits the physical description no doubt and he is an incredible actor. I get the feeling however the producers will likely cast an actor relatively unknown - which I guess is a good thing for us Hunger Games fans haha.

This next comment comes at you in pieces as I can not fit everything I want to say in one comment segment. When it comes to the casting of these movies I have this to say; Katniss was casted beautifully. Hit the nail on the head.
As for the supporting cast? Excellent!!! Stanley, Woody, Elizabeth, Donald, Wes even Lenny were fantastic in their roles. As for the male leads? They dropped the ball HUGE!!!! Seriously!!!! Josh Hutcherson as Peeta??? What did they run out of options? He sucked!!! Please understand that I am NOT saying he sucks as an actor, I have seen him in other stuff and he did great.
BUT… that said, he doesn't look the role and he certainly can not act this role. If you doubt me just check out the cave sceen when he tells her to "come here". He sounds stiff, petrified, without any feeling and no where near concerned and full of wanting to be near her, just to keep her safe. That isn't the only sceen he is like that.
As for Liam Hemsworth… again really?!! I ask one more time, did they run out of options? At least he looks pretty for the camera but he should never have dark hair agian. It doesn't suit him. As for his acting chops we will have to see. Catching Fire will allow him that chance. My advise would be do better than Josh.

Before you talk about too old, please remember that Jennifer Lawrence is 21 to play 16 yr old Katniss, Josh H is 19 to play 16 year old Peeta, Liam is 22 to play 18yrs old Gale (closest age), Woody is 51 to play 40yr old Haymitch. So really its ok (and better) for a 30yr old to play Finnick because otherwise he'd *look to close to Katniss and Josh and Gale's age. And Finnick is 24 so 30 is not far off in comparison. geez
not how i imagined Finnick at all! Finnick is my favourite character in the whole series and Jesse playing him is going to ruin it!! I imagined Finnick Blonde with blue eyes and muscular. I imagined him to look more like Trevor but i dont think his look reflects very well on Finnicks personality. I hope they chose an actor who is not very known to play him.
