The Avengers Broke ALL SORTS Of Records This Weekend

| Filed under: Film FlickersBusiness Blitz

Avengers records

The Avengers didn't just beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 to score the highest domestic opening ever with $200.3 million, it broke A LOT of other records too!

In fact, the demand was so high for this flick that IMAX theaters sold out across the country and it captured the highest grossing opening weekend in IMAX history!

The Marvel movie may not have beat Harry Potter to claim the biggest opening day ever on Friday, but it did make $69.7 million the next day to become the highest grossing Saturday of all time.

The Avengers also nabbed a slew of other honors like having the biggest midnight opening for a superhero movie, the fastest film to reach $200 million in three days, and the biggest opening weekend of all time in 11 other countries!

Who needs an Oscar when your making money like this?

We wonder if Disney and Marvel had a ginourmous pArtayyy in the office today to celebrate! We would!

The hype is high, a lot of heroes in one movie… gross sales…no surprise there!

Not a fan of these type of movies, but congrats I guess (even though I heard from a lot of friends that the movie wasn't that great and leaves a lot to be desired).
As for the Osars- they don't mean shit. It's always the same people that win. Movies like The Avengers (haven't seem it, but doubt that this one deserves an Oscar) or even The Dark Knight (Rises) (pretty sure that this one will deserve one in at least one categories) can be as awesome as they want, but the jury of the Academy will always be bias and give their tropheys to the Scorsese etc. of the world. The Golden Globes are much less bias and more differenciated. There it's not always the same people who win. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo winning Best Film Editing this year was a complete joke. A remake that copied (so, so many) things/scenes off the original movie 1:1, wins? Oh puh-lease. Had the movie not been by David Fincher, the Academy would not have even nominated this movie.

"The biggest midnight opening for a superhero film"? Really? That desperate for records are they?

The real question is did they also set the record for the largest grossing movie released during a full moon? How about the largest grossing movie with a "V" in the title?

The previews are SOO MUCH BETTER than the ACTUAL movie. ALL TALK and 10 minutes of Action….for a 2 1/2 hour film
