Vice President Joe Biden made history on Sunday morning when he appeared on Meet The Press and publicly announced his support for same sex marriage. He is the highest-ranking official in the Obama administration to do so and we could not be happier he did.
The cast of Will and Grace couldn't be happier either, especially since he totally name dropped them by saying:
"I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men marrying women are entitled to the same exact rights… I think Will & Grace probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody has done so far. People fear that is different and now they’re beginning to understand."
So true! The show featured openly gay main characters and America LOVED IT! It ran for eight fantastic seasons and won all sorts of awards while it was on the air.
Since hearing Biden's kind words, the cast has spoken up to voice their appreciation and Sean Hayes (who played Jack) released this statement:
"On behalf of everyone who worked on Will and Grace, we thank Vice President Biden for his comments regarding our show as well as his support for equality for gay Americans and everyone in the LGBT community."
The actors who played the titular characters followed suit when Eric McCormack and Debra Messing responded on Twitter:
Yes! Who ELSE is going to step up? We're lookin' at you Mr. President!
