VH1's Divas Will Honor Whitney Houston!

vh1 divas to honor whitney houston

This is going to be truly something special.

Whitney Houston appeared on the VH1 Divas special in 1999, 2002, and 2003, and although her passing earlier in the year means we'll never get to hear her incredible vocal abilities live on stage again, this year's event, taking place in December, will be a tribute to a woman who embodied the title in all the best ways!

Sources close to production have revealed that they not only have the approval of Houston's family and former record label, Sony, but her musical director Ricky Minor has even signed on as an executive producer!

VH1 President Tom Calderone says:

"We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney's music, it would be 'Divas.' December felt like enough time where it wouldn't be sad anymore, you'd want to celebrate her music."

Well although we doubt the tragedy or her passing will ever truly be gone forever, we think that this is a wonderful way to honor her memory, and all of the beautiful tunes she left behind for us all!

Can't WAIT to find out what the roster of performers will be like this year!

There's no question that it's going to be an EPIC line-up!

We miss you, Whitney!

The organizers are likely to go for the big names, like Mariah, Beyonce, Patti LaBelle, etc. and it is only fitting to have them pay their tribute to the Voice. However, I feel the the tribute should also feature the young and up-and-coming divas who have been influenced by Whitney Houston. Of all the young divas of her generation, Filipino vocal prodigy Charice has the best pipes to give justice to Whitney Houston's songs. Give a listen to her Bodyguard medley and you'll know that this young lady can deliver Ms Houston's songs in a way that befits an honest and grand tribute to the greatest voice of all time.

This will no doubt be an epic tribute event. There are many talented singers out there but i believe there is a lack of TRUE ballad singers in this new generation. I agree with hamsteriffic that Charice would be an excellent addition to the line up since she has the most experience belting out our favorite whitney songs live on stage so flawlessly. Can't wait to see what happens. RIP Whitney.

I would suggest Charice to be included in this performance. She has been a fan of Whitney since she started singing and her voice is as versatile and powerful as the late diva Whitney's.

Good day! I want to recommend Charice to perform Whitney Houston's songs. You may wanna watch her performance in Oprah and several concerts with The Hitman david Foster. He was tagged by Oprah as one of the most talented girl in the world. Her power vocals would definitely give justice to Whitney's song w/out trying hard to reach the notes.

    Thanks a lot!

I sincerely hope Charice will be part of the line up. Let's face it, even with all these great singers out there none is able to render any Whitney's songs as well as that little Filipino Diva has done since her tender age of 7 years old. Add to that she's also a huge fans of the late Whitney.

I totally agree with "hamsterrifc" and most of the commentators here. Charice definitely should be a part of that tribute. And she should be the one to sing either "Run to You" or her famous interpretation of the "Bodyguard Medley" as arranged by David Foster especially for her. Must as well have David foster in that show aslo.

Sorry me again, I was just thinking that Charice could even sing "When You Believe" with Maria Carey… Another dream come true for Charice, singing with another one of her idol. Look at it this way, Maria did a duet with Whitney on that song, Charice would be a perfect choice to duet on that song with Maria… Remember her duet of that same song on that Korean show "Star King"?… Unf#*king believable wasn't it?

Charice MUST be included in the lineup. Charice has the vocals to bring to life Whitney's songs, especially the Bodyguard Medley. Just lookup David Foster & Friends where she performed it through out the tour/s.
