Dark Shadows Will Be A Modest Hit This Weekend

| Filed under: Film FlickersJohnny DeppTim Burton

Dark Shadows box office predictions

Dark Shadows certainly won't be beating The Avengers at the box office anytime soon, but if the midnight screenings are any sign, then it should do just fine this weekend.

The Tim Burton directed comedy grossed $550,000 at midnight screenings on Thursday night. The Marvel blockbuster raked in $18.7 miillion, but the movies aren't really comparable in box office expectations.

Analysts are predicting the country will spend between $30 and $35 million to see Johnny Depp play Barnabas Collins, while The Avengers might make anywhere from $85 million to $110 million.

The reviews aren't great for Shadows, but the adaptation of the classic soap opera should perform okay anyway.

Sorry, not my kind of movie but success to all involved and wish you the best.

PS - You are getting a lot of spammers, maybe you need to make the report button easier to locate? Just a modest suggestion.

None of you movies are big blockbusters, Tim. And I'll tell you why. Most people don't like all that hyper funky jacked up costuming and makeup and over acting. It is obnoxious. It is annoying. It detracts from the character and storyline. Just make a good movie and leave out all these hyper theatrics. Dark Shadows could have been really popular with Johnny Depp if it was taken more seriously, more somberly, and toned down about 50 notches. Johnny Depp as a reserved but dangerous Barnabas would have been hot as hell. And no makeup required. Just great, creepy lighting. But this seems to be all you know how to do. So I guess this advice won't work.
