Rhode Island Rocks! Governor Orders State To Recognize Any And All Same-Sex Marriages!

Rhode Island recognizes same-sex marriages from outside the state

AHHHH!!! Words can't explain how happy we are right now…but we'll try to explain anyway.

Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee has ordered his state to recognize same-sex marriages that were performed out of state.

As a result, gay couples will enjoy the same benefits in Rhode Island that straight couples do. Same-sex spouses of state employees will be covered by their insurance, entitled to sales tax exemptions on the transfer of property, and can list their names as parents on a child’s birth certificate.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Equality is on the way, people! Those who fear it and support same-sex marriage bans can only slow progress down, but marriage equality is breaking through like the beautiful sun on a warm cloudy day.

In other words, the future is inevitably brighter! Anyone who thinks differently has a big surprise coming their way.

We salute you Rhode Island for your courage and only have one question: Who's next?

He should be impeached.. Just like the idot who thinks he's running this country now. This guy is a piece of shit, and Obama is the biggest piece of shit ever! Yo yo, you are a fucking idiot!

I am all for equality. It is not up to me to tell another person or group of persons what they can and cannot do. But as far as ORDERING his state (really? he pay for it?) to do ANYTHING… uh, that is not democracy; any more than the MA state legislature making same sex marriages legal without giving the people a say was democracy. This great revolution Perez speaks of is not coming with the blessings of the nation; just a select group of people. Obama is one man. President though he may be, he is one person; he does not speak for all of the United States. Put gay marriage on the ballot in every state and see where the number fall. THAT is democracy!

Yeah my favorite part about this is the fact he is "running" a state with various cities and towns on the verge of bankruptcy, a crazy unemployment rate, pension reform issues…. buuuuuut this is his priority. Go Governor GUMP!

Barry's favorite saying will now be, "Let me be queer…"

Can you believe that the President of the United States of America and the Democrat Party backs gay marriage and abortion up to the moment of birth?

but gay couples can't marry in RI, and the current legislation allows for any in-state-performed civil union to be ignored by religiously-offiliated employers and service-providers (schools, hospitals, etc.). This bill does nothing to help long-term RI residents who are unable to get married out-of-state.

I have not read RI's constitution, but most places, his "order", is meaningless, extraconstitutional, and unenforceable. The executive 1/3 of government does NOT have the power(except in FEW specific instances) to rule by executive fiat.

I live in RI. Just because Gump is backing this one for votes doesn't mean it's a great state to live in. Look at the high unemployment rate (keep in mind we're the tiniest state in America), the rising taxes, and the overall dissatisfaction of the hard working citizens who have spent a majority of their lives here. We are on the verge of bankruptcy while the corrupt politicians continue to pocket more than their share. Just because gays can marry in this state doesn't mean they should flock here. They will lose all their other rights if they do.

Rhode Islanders are a bunch of f.a.g.s for putting this guy in office.

The government has no business in marriage. It should be entirely neutral on the subject. Marriage should be reduced to what it is: a contract.
