John Mayer Is Back! Sings For Chats With Ellen About … Stuff

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinuteJessica SimpsonLove LineJohn MayerEllen DeGeneres

Has it been two years already?

John Mayer is back and not a moment too soon!

He spoke with Ellen DeGeneres today to promote his new album Born and Raised but spent most of the time answering questions about stepping out of the spotlight and what it was like to lose his head for awhile.

Johnny Boy sought self-maturation in Bozeman, Montana for a few years after putting his foot in his mouth a high monetary value on Jessica Simpson’s vagina toward the end of last decade.

For what it’s worth, he admits to the idiotic mistakes of his youth late 20s — but honesty was never part of his problem.

John is a talented musician and we sincerely hope he actually has his head screwed on straight this time.

Welcome back!!

If it's been three years already then we need another 30-plus so we don't have to endure this douchebag anymore.

Just finished listening to John Mayer's Born and Raised 3 times. By far his best song writing work since Room for Squares. I don't think Mayer has ever given himself enough credit for the song quality on RFS. He always seemed to regret that he didn't place his guitar talent at the forefront of that album, overlooking the fact that lyrically and musically it was a damed good album. I think (and pray) that Mayer is finally finished trying to convince us (and himself) that he is the next Eric Clapton and finds his own sound, that represents his journey- not Eric's. Mayer may be among the best guitarist of his generation, we all know that, but on Born and Raised his ability doesn't overwhelm the message of atonement and growth. Born and Raised is the kind of album that you'll want to listen to on a chill road trip. Continuum was a great album, but it was not as coherent as Born and Raised is conceptually. There were fantastic songs on Continuum, but as an album it seemed disjointed, like Mayer was trying to convince us to take him seriously. Born and Raised represents an artist introspective and honest look at himself, a coming to terms with his faults and being at peace with them. This album is a huge step forward for a very gifted artist, I only hope it gets the credit it deserves and doesn't suffer for Mayer's past controversies. In short Born and Raised is a fantastic album.
