There has been an outpouring of condolences and shared memories ever since the announcement of Donna Summer’s passing early this morning, after a battle with cancer at 63.

The singer was a vocal powerhouse and gave us some of disco's most iconic songs, with her music career spanning over five decades.

Among those celebrities and fans who tweeted their condolences are:

Janet Jackson: We will miss Donna Summer! She changed the world of music with her beautiful voice and incredible talent.

Fergie: Another one of my vocal idols has passed… RIP Donna Summer.

Rihanna: Donna Summer?? @_Vaun: @rihanna sadly, yes. :( RIP #dearDonna RT@@hausofbeyhive_ RIP Donna Summer, Queen of Disco!!

Elton John: I'm so sad. This woman was the queen of disco and so much more. Her records sound as good today as they ever did. That she has never been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace, especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted. She is a great friend to me and to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will miss her greatly.

Ryan Seacrest: I remember sitting in the front seat of my mom's toyota while she sang Donna Summer's "she works hard for the money" songs were just classic.

Ellen Degeneres: I'm so sad about the news that Donna Summer died this morning. I was a big fan. I even used one of her songs in my show that airs today.

Janet Jackson: We will miss Donna Summer! She changed the world of music with her beautiful voice and incredible talent.

Dolly Parton: I can't believe we've lost another wonderful singer. Donna, like Whitney, had one of the greatest voices ever…

Mary J. Blige: RIP Donna Summers!!!!!!!!! :( You were truly a game changer!!!

Natasha Bedingfield: just heard that #DonnaSummer died today. This is awful! She was so incredible. Her and her family are some of the most beautiful people.

Kylie Minogue: One of my earliest musical inspirations, RIP Donna Summer #BadGirlsForEver

Nicki Minaj: Wow, another legend gone. Rest in peace to the beautiful disco queen Donna Summer.

Jaleel White: Aunt Oona from Altuna will be missed #DonnaSummer One of the best guest stars I've ever worked with

Naya Rivera: Oh no. :-( we lost another legend. RIP Donna Summer. So sad

Rest in peace, Donna. You are already missed immensely.

Donna Summer was a good singer.
    .
Why, Mario(n), does the story you copied and pasted announcing Donna Summer's death have a picture of your ugly fucking face? What the fuck do YOU have to do with Donna Summer, and how fucking classless is it of you to use her death as an opportunity to showcase your fug mug? Why does everything have to be about YOU? Can't you make her death about HER? Who gives a shit that you had a picture taken with her (though it actually looks like a photoshop job)? Are you so desperate for attention and to be seen as a celebrity that you have to sink to THAT low? You are a pathetic piece of total shit.

Leave it to Elton John to slag off others in a post that was to be entirely about Donna Summer's passing. We all know he was talking about Madonna when he said second-rate talent getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. Gosh, he is the definition of a jealous queen.

Re: anewlow – If you knew who he was talking about, then perhaps there's some truth to it.
