Ronson was in the studio with Gossip upon hearing the tragic news, working on the just released album, A Joyful Noise.
"It was really strange. It was almost like a turning point. When I found out that Amy passed I was in disbelief. I walked out of the session and I never fully came back…I think the main thing, the chemistry of what we had going on with the Gossip album wasn't really amazing and being reminded about how good it is when it's good, maybe I thought I was forcing something."
Ronson helped produce Amy's career-defining Back To Black album, and what he touches tends to turn to musical gold…
But, chemistry is super important, and Gossip's sound is SO distinct and wondrous, they don't really need Mark tweaking the formula.
And when you're not feeling it, why force it? This is probably good advice in EVERY area of life…
