Katy Perry Celebrates Wide Awake On Facebook!

| Filed under: Music MinuteKaty Perry

Okay, so we gotta admit — usually, lyric videos are pretty boring! Why not just hold off until the ACTUAL music video, right??

Well, this latest one from Katy Perry is actually pretty cool…!!

After debuting her newest single Wide Awake at the Billboard Music Awards last night AND winning the Spotlight award, Katy premiered her lyric video for Wide Awake!

The single is her EIGHTH from her album Teenage Dream and will also be included in her upcoming 3D film, as well as the album's rerelease, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection!

Here’s where it gets cool, though — to celebrate some of Katy’s career benchmarks, she’s teamed up with Facebook to track her achievements since the album dropped its first single, California Gurls in May 2010…through its Timeline function!

Check out what we mean in the lyric video (above)!!

Dayum! Like a trip down a candy-coated memory lane!

Gurl has done SO much in just two years…and she surely is showing NO signs of slowing down anytime soon!

Congratz Katy!

It's not her eighth single from Teenage Dream - it's her second single from the repackaged special edition. She's still a terrible live singer and her single success is entirely in debt to the studio wizardry of Dr. Luke and Max Martin - who are also responsible for the writing the commercial elements (i.e. the hooks) of her every Billboard hit. Dr. Luke's new contract prevents him from working with her, and she's totally untried without his presence. Every one of her hits bears his credit as either producer, songwriter or both. And I liked her Billboard performance when Pink did it two years ago. And Pink sang live AND sounded fantastic.

Re: Batgirlbeyond – I love P!nk and Katy Perry, but it's not like P!nk hasn't worked with Dr. Luke and Max Martin before. "Who Knew" and "U + Ur Hand" were both co-written and produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, plus Max Martin and Shellback are responsible for "So What", "Raise Your Glass" and "Fuckin' Perfect". Just saying…
