American Horror Story Season 2 Is All About Insanity In The Sixties!!

| Filed under: TV NewsChloe SevignyAdam LevineRyan Murphy

While some of you may or may not be upset with Ryan Murphy for the realism behind last night's Glee finale, we're PUMPED for these new American Horror Story details!!!

If you've been keeping up, then you know Season 2 takes place in a brand new realm — a mental hospital!! With Chloe Sevigny being locked away for enjoying her sexual prowess and Adam Levine, well, just being hot, we're not so sure we're gonna be pining for Season 1 anymore, ha!

In talking about the new season and cast, Ryan reveals:

It’s set in an institution for the criminally insane that Jessica Lange’s character runs, which is a really, really, really fun thing to do because you can write all these people locked up in it. And I guess if the first season was about infidelity, the second season is about sanity. What makes someone sane or insane? Sometimes the people you think are insane are actually the most sane of all. It’s fun to write about people who society throws away.

I haven’t said this publicly, but the new season is set in the sixties. [One] character is institutionalized for being a lesbian. To me, there’s nothing more scary than somebody coming to you and saying they’re going to take you away and put you in a mad house and you have no legal rights and there you shall stay till the end of your days. That is a real horror.

I think that people will love seeing Evan Peters, who was last season’s ultimate badass bad boy and this year is the hero of the show. It’s not like the actors are playing similar parts. They’re going to look different, they’re going to sound different, they’re going to have different accents. It’s a different time period. The actors are so excited to do that and hopefully their enthusiasm will translate.

We. Are. Sold!

Totally sold before, but now we're like 100% guaranteed to be the glued to FX in the Fall. No, make that 200 percent, ha!

And thaaaank goodness Jessica Lange gets to fill our lives with perfection again. That woman is remarkable!!

The whole horror/mental hospital thing has been played out. Leave it to Ryan Murphy to once again steal everything from things that have already been done and I do mean flat out STEAL, not just be influenced by. Oooh, a girl is in a mental hospital because she's a lesbian? Hello "Girl Interrupted". Ryan Murphy has NO originality what so ever.

Re: ickynicky – ryan murphy, actually, is very innovative with his television shows (meaning, they HAVEN'T been done before). nip/tuck more than any other show he's made. in reality, people stole ideas from him that were in nip/tuck (dr. 90210). whether you like his shows or not is what you should be talking about, not saying that he just steals his ideas from others. that's just stupid. just because you don't like him doesn't mean he steals everything. and i am pretty sure that a lesbian in a mental hospital is not the only thing that AHS season 2 is going to be all about (did you even see season 1? it's about 10+ people/stories) yeah it's from that girl, interrupted movie, but believe it or not, there are other lesbians out there. and this season is supposed to be set in the sixties, was girl, interrupted? no. and just because girl interrupted has lesbians in a mental hospital, and ryan murphy wants to put one in his show, so be it. it's not like girl interrupted is the only fucking movie or show in the world that is allowed to use that. sorry this is long, but your comment was just so meaningless talking about how ryan murphy steals things from others. get a real opinion with some sense to it. people won't think you're as stupid.

Re: ickynicky – and one more thing, the girl in girl, interrupted, was not in a mental hospital BECAUSE she was a lesbian. she checked herself in. ryan clearly stated that the lesbian in his show was in the hospital BECAUSE she was a lesbian.

Re: brendon.breezy – Just an aside…Girl, Interrupted was set in the 50's.

Re: Tash – No it was the 60s. April 1967 is when the story starts, same as the book. It even shows them watching the news about MLK jr's death. Which was in 1968.

Well he could pull this off… keeping the two best actors of last season. Smart move. Still There was so much of a story left… Gone forever
